On Tuesday, news broke that the Green Bay Packers are set to sign former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman to a one-year contract.
The speedy pass-catcher has been a staple of the Chiefs' offense since he joined the team as a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Hardman has won three Super Bowls with Kansas City and has proven to be one of Patrick Mahomes' favorite targets in the passing game.
Despite his championship experience, Hardman isn't necessarily a lock to make Green Bay's roster and will need to carve out a role for himself during the Packers' offseason program.
The NFL's official Twitter account announced Hardman's signing this afternoon, and credited veteran reporters Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo with the scoop:
This won't be Hardman's first stint with another team.
In 2023, he briefly played for the New York Jets before eventually returning to the Chiefs via a midseason trade that aided Kansas City's run to Super Bowl LVIII.
Hardman cemented his legacy with the Chiefs by scoring an iconic game-winning touchdown in Kansas City's Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
