On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs re-signed veteran defensive lineman Mike Pennel, shoring up the depth of their front four ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Pennel was one of the most experienced players on the Chiefs' roster last season and found a niche as one of the team's best run-stuffers in 2023 and 2024.

Though Pennel might not be the most decorated lineman in the NFL, he played a key part in Kansas City's victories in Super Bowl LIV and LVIII, and is expected to play a rotational role on the Chiefs' defensive line next season.

News of Pennel's signing made the rounds on Twitter this morning and was initially reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter:

Details about Pennel's compensation and the length of his new deal weren't included in Schefter's report, but it is unlikely that his re-signing will break the bank for Kansas City.

Stay tuned to see how the Chiefs will elect to use Pennel during the 2025 season.
