INDIANAPOLIS - At least two Cardinals offensive players will change positions, and another could lose his starting job if he doesn't perform at a Pro Bowl level, coach Dennis Green said Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Guard Leonard Davis will move from the right side to the left, and receiver Anquan Boldin will move from flanker to split end.

And if Freddie Jones doesn't play like one of the best tight ends in the league, he won't be starting, Green said.

Davis is being moved for two reasons: He played left tackle in college at Texas and feels more comfortable on the left side. Also, Green's offense is designed to run the ball to the weak side, which is often to the left.

"The system is designed to flood the right side," Green said, "(with) a lot of three receivers and (to) get a favorable number count on the weak side."

Davis will replace left guard Cameron Spikes. The right guard spot is up for grabs, Green said.

Green admitted moving Boldin to the "X" receiver spot was a gamble, since Boldin caught 101 passes at flanker last year, an NFL rookie record.

"Anybody would be a little nervous about that," Green said. "But I think the split end is ideally suited for him. This makes it easier for him, in my opinion, because he'll get less double coverage."

Bryant Johnson, who played split last year as a rookie, will move to flanker. But he'll compete for the job there, Green said. It's possible the Cardinals could draft a receiver.

"It's a good year to like receivers because there are so many to like," he said.

Green also put Jones on the spot, saying he had the ability to make the Pro Bowl. "If Freddie can't go to the Pro Bowl, he's probably not going to start for us," Green said. "If he's not doing that, I'm not sure why he should be playing for us. I can't think of another tight end in the NFC that should be going to the Pro Bowl in place of Freddie Jones."

Extra point

The Cardinals are no longer interested in trading for Washington cornerback Champ Bailey.

The price was too high. The Redskins are believed to be asking for multiple draft picks, including a first-rounder.

You know this is refreshing to see a proven coach go one by one through the roster and re-arrange everything. This is like having the queer eye for the straight guy crew give your bachelor pad a makeover. Suddenly it's stylish and chicks dig it for unknown reasons.

I completely love having Green as the coach. He has done more than Mac did and the season has not even started

DG mentions the 3 WR set. Does that mean he will be looking to drafting another WR? Do the Cards have 3 legit WRs right now? Maybe add 1 from FA.

The thing is in his 3 WR set he likes to pair them with a speed RB and the Cards lack that? Maybe draft K Jones?

He will not overpay for Bailey. If the team was 1 or 2 players away you can overpay for Bailey - the Cards are not a Bailey away from contension.

Moving Big to LG also helps to protect the QB. It won't be so easy to get to Josh.

I guess I (and others) weren't crazy in thinking Spikes was the weakest link. Hopefully Kendell won't be at center next year!

Kendall will be the starting C next year. I'd bet Northern Card's house on it.

If he's the weakest lint then we are playoff bound......and deep into them, I might add. He should have been a Pro Bowler at C this year!

Well by now you have no doubt read that we will not be in the Bailey sweeps.....and this is a good thing.

Do we have a 3rd WR to play in DG's 3 WR set formation?.....the answer is no, and this is why I believe we'll be using the #3 overall on a WR.
