I can agree that the focus of the "blame" for last year's record should fall on the coaching staff.
I would disagree with your insinuations and innuendos, however, in a number of ways.
Yes, the offense was truely inept last year, and the O-Line play was a big part of that....but not all. From my observations, the biggest problem last year, in regard to not only the O-Line but the entire offense, can be summed up in 4 words: Offensive Coordinator, Jerry Sullivan ! Well, actually I think you need to include O-line coach Pete Hoener in there too. To me, essentially there was no Offensive "plan" last year. Sullivan seemed to be flying by the seat of his pants. He was a duck out of water. So there, I would now include Mac. Sully should have never been put in that position. You can over-simplify and over-generalize, over-exaggerate like a college sophomore all you want, but there was no 1 single, simple reason for last year's performance (or lack of it).
Perfect example here....to begin with, if you want to exaggerate and fabricate what "I" may be thinking....the I'll go ahead and accomodate you, play your game with you, and begin by telling you, grammatically you should have ended you question with a question mark.
...as to content...just to save you some "speculation"...NO, I don't want Mac back. You certainly may call him an idiot, and consider him that. I don't ! Once again, reason for me saying sophomoric oversimplification! Mac, like anyone else, had his strengths and weaknesses. He was not all "bad" just as he was not all "good". Green, in that respect, is no different. He doesn't walk on water. He has individual strengths and weaknesses too. Time will reveal to those who care to observe...what those are now. He does bring a "different" array of those talents and skills to this "game", Hopefully some that are able to improve the situation.
Now....back to the previous paragraph.
again, IMO, the lack of organization, stemming from Sully's ineptness of proper planning resulted in talents being wasted and mis-used. The players can only do what they are "supposed" to do, in that regard. I said back then, as I do now, that most good OC's learn THEIR job coming up through the QB or maybe even sometimes RB coach avenue. Mainly the QB, where they have to know what "everyone" on the field is doing and how their actions intertwine. That is what was painfully lacking in Sully's case. Offensive Lineman going into pass blocking technique on a short and goal line run....players out of position, not due to a mental error on their part, but because of inept play design.....etc, etc, etc.
couple that with Hoener being new at his job too, after the departure of George Warhop (for better or worse) to Dallas....and I think you really have to look no further to point a finger for most of the "blame" for the O-Line's problems last year.
But even that, alone, was not totally responsible for the 4-12 record. There were many others too.
So say you. Just because you have the power or right to do something doesn't always make you right in doing it !!!!!
Once again..."sophmoric" over simplification.
....if you want to poke out little jabs.....you should not be surprised if you elicit some counter punches.
....but one word of caution.....
don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
