I am a long time Suns fan who enjoys talking basketball. I remember wathcing Suns games as a child when they were televised on KPHO. My favorite player of all-time is Kevin Johnson but I also enjoyed watching Paul Westphaul, Dennis Johnson and Walter Davis. My favorite team was the Suns of 1993. What a year that was!
Some of my most momerable Suns moments:
-After injuring his right hand Paul Westphaul scores 20 points with his left.
-The Suns set an NBA record by scoring 107 points at halftime.
-Suns upset the Mighty Lakers in 5 games during the 1990 playoffs.
-Barkley seals the deal with a 20 foot jumper over David Robinson in game 7 of the Suns vs. Spurs '93 playoff series.
-A year later Barkley's torches the Warriors for 56 points in '94 playoffs.
-KJ's dunk on Hakeem in the '94 playoffs. Perhaps the greatest dunk by a little guy.
-Tom Chambers gets parallel with the rim as he throws down a monster two handed dunk over defenseless Mark Jackson.
- Tom Chambers rips his old team the Seattle Supersonics for 60 big ones in a regular season game.
-KJ sinks in 21 free-throws against the Rockets.
-Rex Chapman hits a wild off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the Phoenix Suns into overtime with the Seattle Supersonics.
-Lighting strikes twice as the Suns defeat the Spurs in their first meeting of the 2003 playoffs with a couple of last second 3-pointers off the back board.
-The entire 1993 season!
-The eniter 1993 post-season including that remarkable triple-overtime championship game against the Chicago Bulls.
-Sorry, I didn't mention the '76 Championship Series with Boston becuase I don't remember wathcing it while it took place.
Things that were not so memorable:
-Dennis Johnson is traded for Rick Robey
-Home fans begin to boo Kevin Johnson during game 2 of the 1993 Championship Series against the Chicago Bulls.
-The Suns fail to sign free agent Antonio Mcdyess.
-"John Paxson for three!," Screams Marv Albert as the Chicago Bulls defeat the Suns for their 3rd NBA Championship.
o.k., that's enought for now!
I look forward to discussing Phoenix Suns with you all!
Peace
