I love KB, and Reservior Dogs, think that Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are overrated.

The best film between the both of them (Tarantino/Rodriguez) is Desperado.

Four Rooms was Tarantino's best movie.

And I have not seen Grindhouse yet but I'm going this weekend.

No, IMO it's "El Mariachi."

Have to disagree there. El Mariachi is a terrific film and certainly one of the best from either director, but IMO El Mariachi isn't even Rodriguez's best film, let alone better than either of them. My order:

1) Reservoir Dogs (Tarantino)
2) Kill Bill complete (Tarantino)
3) Sin City (Rodriguez)
4) El Mariachi (Rodriguez)
5) Desperado (Rodriguez)

I will admit though, depending on the day, Sin City and El Mariachi are very close on the list and in truth can be interchanged.

Friggin' bitchin' time, man. Lots of fun. I get off work at 1:25, stroll 1/2 a block to the Roxy, sit down and watch this, stroll over and grab some grub, and stroll back to work at 5:15. Perfect timing.

Rodgriguez...wow, that was loads of entertainment. The atmosphere around the movies and trailers exquisite...the trailers incredible...and Tarantino's merely 'meh'. His wasn't too entertaining. Russell was great, and so were some of the actresses, but it wasn't that enthralling like Rodriguez's.

I'm going to see this tonight

Well..... It was a strange movie, some parts were funny, other parts were just your usual gratuitous violence and head scratching moments of unrealism.

I just went and saw this and this about sums up my opinion of the movie(s?) as well. You can tell early on Rodriguez had a ton of fun paying homage to the gore horror flicks of the 70s.

Tarantino's half was okay. The pacing seemed off and not just from the intentional editing problems (which I'm glad they both didn't overdo). Russell was fantastic though.

The "prevues" were classic.

Not a fan of Pulp Fiction, but Reservoir Dogs is a superior movie, and taken as a whole, Kill Bill is QT's best film, and one of the better action films of the last 10 years.

Uma swinging the sword was totally unbelievable. She couldn't carve a pumpkin with that thing.

I did like the part where she was flying on a commercial airliner with her sword by her side. Must have been JetBlue.... ;)

"Death Proof" Has a DVD Date; "Planet Terror" Does Not

Posted by Scott Weinberg on Tuesday, Jun. 12, 2007, 02:30 AM

Scott Weinberg writes: "Yeah, you knew the Weinsteins were going to do it this way: One half of "Grindhouse" will be out on DVD this September. Another will not.

Sources indicate that Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" will hit DVD on September 18th. No word yet on if it will be the U.S. "Grindhouse" version or the longer cut that played in Cannes. Heck, we don't even know if all the "fake trailers" will be included.

Ignored yet again is the more amusing half of the double feature: Robert Rodriguez' "Planet Terror" has not been announced for DVD just yet, but we should be hearing something soon.

Source: Cinematical, Bloody-Disgusting.com"

If true, this incredibly weak IMO. Its a move made just for the sake of money and misses out on what made Grindhouse so much fun to watch.

Also, why send out the lesser half of the "double feature" out first?

I just watched Death Proof. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. I thought most of it was pretty boring. I appreciate the style and thought it was perfectly done, but there just wasn't much of a movie to it. It basically consisted of 90 minutes hot chicks having dumb conversations and 30 minutes of awesome car chases.

IMO, that's a perfect translation of classic grindhouse cinema.

I enjoyed Death Proof, but Planet Terror was definitely better. I'm REALLY upset we don't have a DVD where you can watch it like you could in the theater.

I just watched Planet Terror. Much, much better. This is what I was expecting from these Grindhouse movies.

I loved the trailer for Machete, I'd definitely watch it.:D

Pretty much sums it up for me, as well. Worth seeing, but I probably wouldn't watch it again.
