GRIZZLIES ANNOUNCE AWARD WINNERS
The Utah Grizzlies announced today the team award winners for the 2005 regular season.
Grizzlies defenseman Keith Ballard, who led all Utah defensemen with 2-18-20 in 60 games, was named Rookie of the Year. Ballard had an outstanding first year in the American Hockey League and represented the Grizzlies at the AHL All-Star Game.
Grizzlies center Peter White was named the team's MVP and also received the Offensive Player of the Year Award. White led all Grizzlies players in scoring this season with 14-31-45 in 80 games.
Utah center Erik Westrum was named the team's Unsung Hero. Westrum led the team in goals with 18 and ranked third in points with 33. He also led the Grizzlies with 3 shorthanded goals.
Grizzlies defensemen Matthew Spiller and Joe Callahan also took home year end awards. Spiller won the Gord Dineen Trophy as the Defenseman of the Year and Joe Callahan was named the Most Improved Player.
Grizzlies goaltender David LeNeveu took home the Three Stars Award and Sheldon Keefe won the Player's Player Award.
