Arizona Tight End Rob Gronkowski had a full workout for NFL scouts today, and NFL.com’s Gil Brandt provided details.

Gronkowski missed all of the 2009 Wildcat season with a back injury, and was not able to run at the combine. Perceived as a player with first round talent, scouts needed to see a solid workout from Gronkowski to supplement his 2008 tape and limited work at the combine.

Per Brandt, Gronkowski had an excellent workout, with a fast 4.63 40-yard dash, a 33 1/2 inch high jump, and a 9′11” broad jump.

What makes this newsworthy here, besides the fact that the Bengals are in desperate need of a game-changer at TE, is that Bengals TE coach Jonathan Hayes ran the drills.

Brandt reports that 15 teams were in attendance.

I did think yesterdays were a bit drastic and most importantly they werent confirmed by any medical staff of the NFL it was just a reporter giving us an indication that his sources feel that Gronkowski might never be able to play because of his bad back. I think there is something there about a lack of confidence in his back that quite a few teams see but at worst i think that might push him into the later rounds of the draft. There is just no way that he goes undrafted, he is too talented of a TE for a team not take a risk on him.

Way to go out on a limb there.

The reason why i said that at worst he'd go into the later rounds of the draft and there is no way he goes undrafted is because SEVERAL people said yesterday that because of his chronic back condition he would go undrafted. I still see Gronkowski going before the third round and at best could even be taken early second round.

Oh and im sure every statement you've ever made has been prophetic and has been lauded by everybody. How silly of me to think otherwise and make a statement that is perhaps a bit of common believe.

haters keep hatin! gronk is going to make some nfl team happy the took a risk on him.

No body was "hatin" on the guy. They simply said if the condition is as serious as the rumor/report indicates, then they don't want him. Doesn't even mean the report is true. As I said previously, none of us have enough medical information (nor the medical knowledge to interpret it if we did have access to all his medical records/information) to give an accurate opinion on what his draft stock should be. My hope is that he checks out healthy and has a wonderful career (would even love to have him here if healthy).

However, your comments on him are completely ignorant and uninformed. How can you have the "Gronk will dominate no matter what" type attitude when you have no idea what his condition is yourself (nor anyone else on here for good or for bad). He could be the toughest, most high character, freak athlete on the planet but if he has a medical condition that prevents him from playing then he can't help a team.

No one claimed he would go undrafted, just that they hope the Cards don't draft him if Rang's report is true.

Quite a few people did question whether they he would go undrafted if this report is confirmed to be true which as an entirely valid proposition to make. At the time i did say it is possible that the report is possibly exaggerating the condition of Gronkowksi's back and for that reason i still saw the likelihood of Gronk being drafted still as high. Therefore my statement that the condition of Gronks back would at worst knock him back a few rounds is not only valid but more importantly realistic. But of course there are some here who are such experts on the draft that they are not satisfied unless you tell them that Ron Gronkowski will go to the Cincinnati Bengals with the #54th pick of the draft.

Not saying that your opinion is incorrect, just that no one said he would go undrafted. One person asked if people thought he would go undrafted. I agree with you assessment of his draft stock, but like I said we really have no idea to what the actual degree of the condition is or even what the condition is.

Exactly, but there is at least one NFL Draft expert on here who thinks unless we know for sure what his conditon and exactly where he gets drafted we shouldnt be saying anything at all ;)

Your draft is probably more realistic but id prefer Sean Lee to Washington. If that is how the draft went though id be fairly happy as we adressed two areas of need to some extent in the first two rounds.

And if I'd seen those post I would have called them out, too. But to say "he's not going to go undrafted," is pretty obvious, I think.

No one ever questioned the guys athletic ability. Does it really matter how fast you run or how high you jump if you're sitting in a wheel chair because of the narrowing of your spine?

The back issue, if true, is a huge deal. Being a TE, he's going to be dealing with DL, LB's and taking hits over the middle. Back and neck concerns have ended many players careers.

Well its not that obvious at all. Those people who said it might be possible he goes undrafted were saying it on the back of the Rang report where he said certain medical reports have come out saying that Gronkowski has a chronic back condition that could mean he may never play pain free. If those reports are confirmed to be true then the points made by those people would've been valid. Its just that with this work-out Gronk has shown what a beast he has and his draft stock has taken a rise whereas previously it was falling a fair bit. If i had to go out on a limb id say he goes in the second to the Bengals, is that good enough for you?

Exactly. These work-outs are impressive however to the extent that they show he still has his fantastic combination of power and athleticism. Where he gets drafted does depend highly on whether teams think his back condition can be managed.

Seemed like 75% of that article was Drew Rosenhaus on his soap box. Im sure Gronk is fine, but if not, Drew just spun like like a 12" vinyl
I wouldn't touch him. Didn't Rosenhuas say Mcgahee would be ready for game 1 and didn't play all year? The NFL isn't going to listen to DR. They have the medibal reports and will make their own decision. I like DR's quote "every team i talked to". He may have talked to 1 team.

Nothing I have said is any more ignorant than the people claiming he WONT be dominant and shouldn't be drafted based on an unconfirmed, and quite frankly unfounded medical condition that he might have. The guy was a beast before he went down, and if he is healthy as he claims he is and his re cent workout suggest, he will be dominant again.

Now this is something I can get behind 100%, though I might replace Ghee with another LB depending on who is available. I don't agree with everyone around here who thinks our CB situation is dire, because it really isn't.

Our CB ranks is pretty unknown after DRC. Toler is a talented kid with a lot of potential but IMO McFadden has been a bust so far and the less said about Adams the better. I think we need to pick a CB in the 2-4th round that is capable of really pushing Toler and McFadden for that other CB spot in the starting line up and my personal preference is Akwasi Owusu-Ansah who can be prolly be had in the 3rd or 4th
