Out of all the villains, she was the most developed. Daughter of Thanos, not his favorite, evil to the core, hated her sisters, but Gamora the least...

True, not much, but more than Ronan and more than Thanos.

That was annoyed me though. She had so much potential as a character. I really thought they should have spent more time on her character. Out of all the "bad guys", she was probably my favorite.

Yondu was more of antagonist but I loved the character.

she survived, didn't she? maybe they're setting her up for something bigger down the line?

Yep and that would be awesome. I don't know why but I get a very Darth Maul vibe from her character except they were smart enough not to kill her off. I would love something down the line.

I was thinking Darth Vader. Getting blown out of the Death Star trench at the end of Episode IV, only to return in full force for Empire.

I wasn't referring to the circumstance as much as the character itself. She basically is a powerful bad-ass where we got to see her kick a little butt. However, we were left with wanting more.

I started watching Doctor Who a few months back and tonight I watched the rebooted season 5 premier. The doctor got a new companion so afterwards I looked her up, and to my surprise it was Nebula (well, the actress who played Nebula).

Ronan took what little time was available. Unfortunately, he was a blah character. I'm wondering if Gunn didn't think after the movie was done that they should have put more about her in the film.

Yep, one of my favorites from Doctor Who (Amy Pond). Love Karen Gillan.

Yeah, she's great but Jenna Louise-Coleman has moved Amelia to second place on my modern Who companion list. It's a bit disappointing to hear that she will probably exit the series in the next Christmas special.

Love her as well but just like KG, I knew she was going to move on to bigger things. You can just tell with some actors. Love her though!

I love her as an actor and as Amy Pond too. Fans had such a love/hate thing with her, which is quite weird.

IMO Amy Pond was better, but neither one of them were the best. Rose rocked, followed by them. I also liked Martha Jones, but despised Donna. She had no range for me.

Are you kidding? She had like thirteen different ways to whine! My wife loved her, I mostly hated her. But all in all, I've liked the companions quite a bit. I lean towards Jenna because I find her the cutest of the group and I like the fact that she's typically less helpless than the others. But each to their own.

Haha, nice. Yeah, she had two ranges--I'm a bloody Englishwoman, and to hell with you, I'm tough and am going to bull through!

I'm a sucker for redheads, so I found Pond cuter. Truly, to each their own :)

I married a redhead 41 years ago so it's probably too late for me to say I prefer blondes. Especially since my wife reads this forum regularly. But the truth of it is that I'm a sucker for a nice smile - one that reaches the eyes. My wife's smile does that and so does Jenna's.

Rose Tyler was awesome. Martha was OK, nothing special but OK. Donna? One of the worst IMO. Couldn't stand her. She was so annoying.

Took my wife to see it tonight. We decided one dog will be Rocket for Halloween and the other will be Groot. If I learn how to sew...

Has a movie ever lost the #1 spot after its first week and then regained it in week 4 of its run? Cause that just happened.

it's SUPER rare.

think about this... in the last two summers, this little known Marvel movie will have made more then a Spiderman and a Superman movie. Pretty impressive.

One of the things that keeps Marvel ahead of the DC stuff is, IMHO, a sense of humor. All Marvel's movies have some subtle, and not so subtle, humor built in and they do it very well. If there's any of this in the DC stuff, I sure don't remember it. DC movies tend to take themselves WAY too seriously.

DC has tried to get some humor in there with Green Lantern, but that movie was such a disaster that nothing really worked in it.

TDK had humor, but it was pretty damn dark humor, most of it courtesy of the Joker. That was really the only DC movie that had any. TDKR had a couple lines of levity, but that movie was super-dark. And Man Of Steel took itself WAY too seriously.

funny you brought this up today Chris. just found a lengthy article that talks about this very thing:

http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/why-dcs-serious-superman-may-give-marvel-the-big-screen-edge

if this is really an edict from WB, they're bigger morons making this franchise then I already believed them to be Superman 2: The Big Smusharoony coming out in 2016.

I saw GL and the jokes were pretty lame and the movie was lame to the 11th power.

Liked the article. Thanks!

Absolute idiots. Especially for a tent-pole movie with a ton of main characters in it. IMO, in an ensemble movie like that, good, well-placed jokes hold it together.

IMO that has Joss Whedon written all over it. Several of the writers of the recent movies have mentioned Joss's help with script problems. Also, I am sure he has a hand in picking writing talent.

It's not an easy thing. People who never watched shows like Buffy, Angel or Firefly don't get that he was a master at interweaving humor and drama in the same episodes of his shows. He is a master at the timing of those kinds of things and it's not easy to pull off IMO.

I have seen plenty of movies crash and burn when they try it.
