None of the descriptions of the funny parts of that movie with the dudes in the jungle sound funny to me.

Wasn't Ben Stiller in that movie? meh

So what you are basically saying is that you have no clue if you like the movie or not because you haven't even seen it.

You actually liked Tropic Thunder? That would surprise me. Normally my tastes in movies are as brutally low-brow as yours appear to be so I'm wondering what exactly won you over here. Was it the stupidity or the boredom?

I am insulted by your insinuation that you have to be dumb to enjoy that movie. I guess everyone wants to their movies to be The Human Centipede. ;)

I liked it a lot. The gruesome silliness. Robert Downey Jr's role and Tom Cruise had me rolling. VERY funny!

Robert Downey Jr. was fracking brilliant in that movie.

I liked it a lot too, but I'm in the movie business and probably understand more of the jokes than some.

Downey Jr is one of the more overrated actors around.

I know so many people who like the jungle movie that I usually pretend I thought it was funny.

I never claimed he was the best actor out there, but he WAS hilarious in Tropic Thunder. Whether he deserves plaudits for his acting is another topic.

And well you should be. If you can't measure up to my admittedly low-brow taste in movies I'm going to have to insist you move out of the trailer park. You're making the rest of us look bad.

Don't worry, you don't need me to make yourself look bad.

Finally, a compliment from Chaplin.

Personally, I think the people that made Tropic Thunder shot themselves in the foot by being too cheap. If they had spent a few bucks on a quality laugh track, I would have known when to chuckle.

Gulliver just looks horribly bad,....and my movie standards are pretty low.
Good special affects.
Good writing.
Good story line.
Good acting.
Any ONE of these and I can find a reason to enjoy a movie, after all, I watch them to be entertained so I try to allow them to do that....but Gulliver just looks bad....maybe I will see it when it is the last choice in Blockbusters four for twenty box.
On the other hand,....School of Rock was definitely worth watching...even Nacho Libre, as poor as it was, had some very funny moments.

I was going to say that was probably Jack Black's last good movie. My problem with him is the fact he goes overboard all the time. In School of Rock there were times when he went overboard (namely all the music scenes) but he toned it down for most of the classroom scenes. When he plays a normal guy he is tolerable but he rarely does that. As for Tropic Thunder I liked it. It was just so out there. It is not something I'd watch over and over again but if I saw it on tv once or twice a year I'd probably watch it. Jack Black was only good when he was tied up to the tree.
