Just watched a news piece talking about Haley, seems to be the current front runner for the KC job.

Funny thing about the Q thing, the sports announcer just said that Haley's stock shot up because of it, thought that was funny.

Isn't Herm Edwards still employed by this team?

Yeah technically he is.

Weird I know, don't really know exactly why either.

I've been saying for years that Edwards is one of, if not the worst head coach in the NFL. Wherever he goes, he slowly destroys the team. He must be GREAT at interviews because owners continuously overlook his past and hand him the keys to the car...

Very very nice guy, terrible head coach.

It's funny you say that.

I got into an arguement with a coworker over this, he said that it was a great hire at the time.

I said I could save the Chiefs millions by having them make me the GM, to which he responded that I was on crack.

I told him maybe so but even me on crack knows better than to hire Herm Edwards as a HC which was my point.

“I really, and I’m not just saying this, I love my job here, I really do,” Haley said Monday, sitting in his office. “Everybody loves to get patted on the back or told they do a good job, but the attention isn’t something I am super comfortable with. I just told (head coach Ken Whisenhunt) I love my job here. I live in a great place, I have five kids and the thought of me moving or doing something else isn’t at the forefront for me.”

And I'm quoting the Haley article on the AZ Cardinals website. Yeah, he doesn't really sound all that enthralled with the idea of going to KC.

Well, what on earth do you expect him to say with less than two weeks remaining until the Super Bowl? He isn't going to let this be a distraction.

He would be foolish to not give the KC job some serious consideration. As far as NFL coaching position goes, that one has to be in the top 10. As stated above, their fan base is amazing, they have a great owner and they just won the GM lottery.

I love Haley and want him to stay, don't get me wrong. But he HAS to consider that position if they want him. It would be very hard to turn down.

Haley's going to KC. Good for him, he deserves it. Another twist for our off season. I hope Rod has a lot of Tums on hand.

We need to keep him here. We can't have our coaches leave as we show some success. I know it's a big promotion for those guys. But we need to keep our coaches in tact. How come no one is looking at PIT or IND when they have tons of success???

Pioli is hating that this is in the news if true.

Pioli has to interview a minority canidate before he is allowed to hire Haley. Since this is in the news and if it gains even more steam there might not be a single minority canidate that wants to be the token interview who has no chance of getting the job.

Also if Pioli doesnt want Edwards as his coach then why the heck is he stringing along Herm and his coaches who could be looking for other jobs right now. Bush league if you ask me.

The other prevailing thought is that Pioli may wait a year with Herm. There is always a honeymoon preriod for a GM, if he keeps a coach for one year then hires a different coach in 2010 he extends that honeymoon period and gets into the 2010 coaching sweepstakes of like 4-5 highlytouted coaches who are taking a break this year.

From our friend Chris Collinsworth: LINK

On Todd Haley: "The biggest winner out of Arizona's run is Todd Haley. The brush-ups that were captured on TV last week showed not only can he put a game plan together, but that he can also handle himself on the sidelines during tough situations. For him to keep it together and call the plays to march the ball down the field really showed great presence. He has a great pedigree in football, taught by Bill Parcells with a minimalist approach. He's a youthful, energetic guy, and I think he'll be the coach in Kansas City and I think he'll do a good job."

Seems like a weird rule when he already has a minority as a coach.

Fact is if you win then your assistant will get promotions.

A good HC will replace them

I think what he said goes a little bit further than the ole "i like my job here" BS. Sounds like he REALLY wants to stay here.

I hope he really does stay here. I think I heard OAK is interested in him as well. There are few teams that will not work who ever the HC maybe. It seems Gruden, Shanahan, Cowher are coming back next year so those team should just wait!
