If S.F. can hold on and win the game (with a 20 point lead at halftime), the potentially 5-5 49ers will be 1 game out of first. Who would have though it?

SF as a team has 18 rushes for 163 yards! It takes the Cards 2.5 games and 50 rushes to get that much!!!

Gore has 130 yards on 13 rushes at the half!!!!

Ninerfan here, and the 49ers are capitalizing on the Seahawks mistakes right now. Plus they are playing good defense, in 18 quarters of play the 49ers have only allowed one touchdown.

Who would have though it?

Nobody, especially the way that the defense was playing in the beginning of the season.

SF got so screwed at the end of the half I'm still livid. Battle catches a ball and dives for the endzone, refs call it a TD. Then they review it to see if his knee was down. THe ref then says on review his knee was down "just barely before he crosses the goalline by about 2 inches", so they kick the FG. Now we saw 3 different angles and none were CONCLUSIVE that he didn't cross the goalline.

If it was conclusive, why did the ref say just barely as if he clearly wasn't sure? The rule is quite simple , it has to be conclusive, not we think.

Total crap call.

Mike Nolan is making a push for coach of the year, young team, virtually no talent on defense, and they could be 5-5.

SF Just May win the Division!!!

Goes to show you what REAL coaching does...Must be nice to maximize talent, even a team full of only mediocre talent save for a few spots is challenging for the division, while a talent laden team like the cards simply suck...

as others have said the crappy part is we could easily be in the division race if we hadn't choked away so many games earlier. Seattle is falling apart without Hasselbeck.

That's an understatement. Do they have any talented players on D besides Bryant? BTW, I've only seen their first game, against us. How's Manny Lawson looking?

BTW, one of the guys making that talentless defense win half of their games and staying within a game of the division lead is Mike Singletary, a guy who many on here would like as a head coach. Personally, I would love a HC who's that intense.

nolan is a hell of a coach - even convinced seneca to think he was a niner today ;)

seriously though, you could see this last year in the way they were playing at home - this team is going to continue to improve - seattle was their own worse enemy today, but you can't just hand over opportunities on the road

thankfully matt is back next week

Brandon Moore has been one heck of a player this year, I think he is deserving of a Pro Bowl invite.

its funny. on the way back from the game i was listening to the postgame show and some lady called in and said:

"It's not Dennis Green's fault. He shouldnt get fired"

to which i point out the fact that the 49ers, saints, and jets are all much improved this season with new coaches.

there is NO reason we should be 2-8 right now.

no reason at all.

the coaching staff has blown this season.

It is true that there is no reason that we should have that record, except suspect in game coaching, but everything is in place for there to be success in the desert. The coaching staff shares a heavy amount of the blame but the 10 mil in cap space could have given them that extra 2 quality starters, one at cornerback, and one at Offensive Tackle that would have possibly put them over the top, so the front office not spending that money also is a culprit. On a good day this team can compete with the likes of the Chicago Bears, on the bad days we can't beat the likes of the Oakland Raiders. If in the 2nd half things turn around and we get to 6 and 10 with Leinart getting game experience then I think next season this team will be a tough team to beat at home and one that know one likes to play period. Either way as Earthsci told me at the tailgate today, You never root for your team to lose to improve its draft position, and this I agree on. Lets win all the remaining games and let the Pie fall wear it may. Even if DG sticks around another year because of it.

SF has Norv Turner calling plays, using Frank Gore and a huge o line.

They have SOME talent. Lawson is ok, good rushing the passer, weak on the run, some trouble in coverage. Brandon Moore is the guy who made the difference in their defense, I was hoping we'd get him as a FA but they wisely signed him before. He was hurt early but is starting now and lighting it up. Rob Moore's younger brother, just a terrific athlete playing the run better at OLB but what he really gives them is a pass rusher.

I was at a buddy's house yesterday we had the Cards game on directv and the 49ers game on cable right next to each other. SF nearly lost the game when Spencer got hurt, they brought in Sammy Davis and Seattle picked on him every play right down the field for a TD. Amazing that guy was a high pick of the Chargers, he's beyond bad, he might be worse than Matt Ware was the game he started at CB.

Sopoaga is starting to play ok too, but the main difference is they're getting some pass rush now so their DB's aren't as exposed as they were early in the year(bears game being the exception).

Alex got screwed out of a TD Pass at the end of the first half.

Yeah I mentioned that yesterday the rule says conclusive evidence to overturn a call not just about 2 inches from the goalline crap. none of those replays were conlusive, should have been a TD.

To me it's an example of what a good coach and staff can do though. You put in a good coach and staff next year there's no reason we can't be doing something similar.

The one area SF has a huge advantage over us their OL, talent wise that is, everywhere else we're better.

But they're well coached and we're not.

So well coached they lost to the Cards?

J/k

That is their defense though and it really does suck although the last 3 weeks it's been a lot better. They have almost no talent on defense.

Gore is amazing, I know given his health history he probably won't have a long career but he sure is fun to watch, 4 runs over 20 yards yesteday, a 51 and a 50. Did have a huge fumble late that could have cost them but Wallace gave it right back with a pick.

If Leinart improves half as much year over year as Smith has, he'll be very good next year, Smith was beyond bad last year and really looks quite good this year.

Just a little bit more info
Larry Johnson has 59 more carries than Gore,
Larry Johnson has 1045 rushing yds
Frank Gore has 1043 rushingyds

I think that most(including myself) 49ers fans are hoping that Gore can stay healthy !
