I have been looking for a new take from Harry.

I have not seen a post from him since the board melted down following his critical article concerning the Leinart hold-out.

I can't say I agreed with him on that, but when Harry writes, I read.

Harry, please come back to us...

I bet he moved to the Raiders' board. It least Al Davis listens to him...

Yes Harry. I want to know your feelings about how the Cards ran the ball against the Bears. Was it a sign of things to come or a fluke?

Allow me to disagree with the points being made here.

Possible impact 1) Harry, wanting to avoid the criticism, mutes his words and makes his writing less valuable.

Possible impact 2) Readers, wanting to avoid alienating Harry, mute their criticism of his writing making the discussion less valuable.

Possible impact 3) Harry ignores the criticism (except to the extent that he argues his points) and writes without regard to its reception and the readers continue to critique with no limitations on their opinions.

If either of the first two is the result, I'd rather not.

OK. Go ahead and disagree with your points all you want.

Nobody is advocating any kind of censorship...the mods cover that well enough. I just find myself missing his experienced insights and opinons.

IMO; we were very fortunate to be the chosen outlet for his thoughts concerning this team.

You need to stick around for a while to actually appreciate Harry. You can disagree and/or doubt what he has to say, but let me tell you something, he has hit the nail right on the head WAY more times than he's missed.

I'm not questioning his value, I'm questioning his fortitude. Who knows? Maybe he's on vacation. After all, he last posted less than three weeks ago, and since the signing, excitement over meaningless games is all we've had. I'd bet he just hasn't had anything to post, but if scathing criticism kept me from posting...well, it wouldn't.

Actually, I spent the last 3 weeks in Washington getting to know the enemy. I had some great access and they are ready to play. I also was in Phoenix for a short time.

BTW, fire away on the criticism, I hope to generate a response. One of my old journalism teachers said, "It's when you write something that no one responds to that it's time to stop writing."

Here's what I saw in Seattle.

Seattle will be very tough this year. I can’t see the Cards beating them in Seattle. Despite the loss of Hutchinson, the offensive line is playing well and Alexander looks strong. This is a confident, veteran team and I do not expect a Super Bowl letdown, though I’d love to see one.

Largely because of the O-line gap, I can’t see the Cards finishing ahead of them in the West. The Waterbirds (sp) are beatable if you can slow their running game and make them beat you with the pass. Their receiving corps is moderate at best and if healthy. I have it on the best of authority that they tried to obtain at least two top receivers, but wouldn’t part with veteran players to make it happen.

The Seaturkeys (sp) are also weak at safety and failed to solidify that position as well. They are counting a great measure on Hamlin, who I must admit has played better than expected. Still his durability has to be questionable. Flood the secondary and they will have major match-up problems even with him in there.

Peterson dramatically upgrades the front 7 and his surrounding cast is solid if not spectacular. They are undoubtedly a playoff team and a Super Bowl contender. They are deep and it is hard to see them finishing any worse than 10-6. If the Cards can beat them in AZ, it will be a major accomplishment.

BTW, Russ, if you read this your guy Greene has finally turned the corner. They really focused on him in the off-season and he has a much better grasp of the offense. They only have him third on the depth chart, but they do think he may one day be the man. They would have dumped him if he had not progressed significantly.

I appreciate the concern for my absence, but some of you may recall I retired (admittedly for the second time) a while ago and warned posts and articles would be sporadic. If I disappear for good, I'm dead, not driven away by evil-doers.

I expect Seattle to be tough competition for the Cardinals. In fact, it may be due to Seattle that the Cards are yet a year from winning the division. Yet all teams are beatable under the right circumstances.

Harry, what circumstances might occur that would give the Redbirds the edge (small e)???

I'd add that it's not all about personnel.

A lot has to do with how well the personnel plays together as a team.

This may be Seattle's strongest attribute under Holmgren.

Small “e” or large, the Cards biggest problem will be that they don’t match up well against the Seafowls (sp). The Cards defense will fare better against the pass than a power running team like Seattle. It’s true the Cards have had good games against Alexander and so has newcomer, Clancy. I just think Seattle’s running game is too strong. On offense, the most effective backs against Seattle are the quick accelerators, of which Edge is not one. He’s fast, but not Willie Parker fast, so forget a balanced attack.

The Cards best shot is with their passing game. They would have to simply outscore Seattle, like 34-31. I don’t know if the defense could hold up on the field for that long especially with the secondary being thin. I’d forget the run. Show them formations with Edge in the slot and tons of 3-wides. Seattle has weak safeties and if the Cards’ offensive line can hold up until receivers get somewhat deep, the Cards could score and score often. The best shot is at home with all the adrenalin the crowd can provide.

Thats what I kind of thought about the 49ers. Q and Fitz had 37 catches for 504 yards against this team last year. I'm kinda hopin we get after this team. Grab a lead and then methodically put them away.
