That's a rough one, but I've gotta go with the more kid friendly movie.

I dunno I would say that Harry Potter especially this installment is only more kid friendly in perception and only.

Yes. Both have IMAX too which is at least 16 bucks a head.

When we went to the Dark Knight, it wasn't that expensive. I think it is around $13 or $14 here.

Harry Potter traditionally isn't a huge moneymaker on opening weekend, and in fact, the grosses for Potter aren't as high as most would think. This will be a huge moneymaker over the long run, but I don't think it will beat out Transformers 2 on opening weekend.

Didnt the last Harry Potter gross like 105 million in its opener? Thats pretty damned big.

Nope, 77mil. LINK

Ok it was Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire that opened with an extremely stellar 102 million in 2005. I knew one of them did. Azkaban opened with a stellar 93 million too.

The American public has a hard on for excessive explosions and Michael Bay provides that in place of actual plot. I would hope Harry Potter wins just because, while I am not a fan, it has a storyline and isn't just a sequence of explosion followed by larger explosion.

After seeing the first film, I refuse to see the second Transformers. Ruined all the fond memories I had for this childhood franchise.

I know it is a sucker bet, but just to spit in Bay's face, I am going with Harry Potter.

Any chance of extending the betting deadline on this one since Harry Potter does not hit theaters until July 15th?

Or did you want people to place their wagers without the advantage of knowing what Harry Potter would be up against in actual figures from Transformers 2?

Transformers 2 looks awful from the previews. More of the same.

After the shock of all the effects wore off, the first one is actually kind of a crappy movie.

Transformers is a 2 and a half hour movie. Just a warning for those who are going to see the midnight showing. I promised a friend of mine for his birthday that I'd take him to go see this flick. We are going to see it Wednesday morning.

I still bet Potter won't eclipse 200 million by Sunday. It could but I doubt it.

Heard on the radio this morning that they are projecting 191 million dollars by Sunday... they said it was a fairly conservative number. So it might not make it to 200 million
