We just finished watching the pilot to David E Kelly's new show "Harry's Law". If you've liked previous Kelly shows this one will probably work well for you. Like all Kelly shows it has a nice blend of drama and humor along with a few quirky characters. Hopefully, he'll stay with this show for more than just a few episodes. It's our favorite new network show so far this season.

Harriet is a top notch patents lawyer that gets bored with her job. She gets herself fired and things seem to go downhill from there until she decides to open her own practice. It airs Mondays on NBC.

I was so ready to not like this show, old white lady save the hood and her self at the same time plot. I did like it, people were funny, court room scenes were a bit far fetched but made some sense in this world today, if you are into that kinda thing. Had some twists. Had me thinking about things for a minute, I am looking forward to next weeks episode.
It is like present day Perry Mason meets the ghetto, but has some comedy to go with it.

Am I the only person on the planet who doesn't get the public's fascination with Kathy Bates?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I hear people gush over her.

I agree. Her act gets really old, really fast. She was okay on Six Feet Under, because she was hardly ever on.

That's because you aren't an overweight, pushing-Medicare, white woman.

Between that and the office in a high-end shoe store angle the women of America are going to love this show.

I fell asleep. Did she get the black dude off?

The show started slow but picked up speed. Again, if you're a fan of David E Kelly shows you should like this. If you don't care for his quirky characters and style of humor you probably won't like it. And yes, assuming you're not talking about what it sounds like you're talking about - she gets the black dude off.

Yep. That's what I was talking about.

I like David E. Kelly. His wife used to bag groceries at my local Vons supermarket. ;) Orange County girls rock.

Thought the show was decent tonight, a lot more far fetched court room scenes but the show rolls nicely along with a good mood/spirit.

When Kelly restrains himself from his tendencies to over the top quirkiness or obvious pandering parody, like the first several riveting seasons of The Practice, I personally think there's nobody more entertaining to watch. However when he gives in to his baser instincts we get treated to stuff like the last unwatchable seasons of Boston Legal or this garbage.

Predictable plotting, forced humor, characters acting "strange" merely because the writer needs them to act this way and not because of any compelling backstory or internal motivations - well this all combines to make this a fairly representative example of "Bad Kelly Theater".

I really wanted to like this show, as there's a true dearth of anything approaching compelling ever since Lost left, but after two episodes I've canceled the season pass.

I thought the show had promise after the first episode but the second episode was a step down, IMO. I'm going to give it a few more episodes but I'm not overly hopeful.

I like the show because of Bates and think its an above average show (7/10), but the show is a little campy and lays the political messages on a little thick(even if I agree with some of the sentiments).

I like the relatioship between bates and the deupty DA, but her assistant in the show is a pointless character who seems only to be ont he show to show her appreciation when she recognizes something "extrodinary" or poingnat (BIM?).

The campy aspect of the show is harder to stomach becasue it follows "The Cape" wich is an extremely cheesy show.

BTW: Michael McDonald was great in the last episode.
