Edge Hartwell was interviewed from AZ at about 3:45 pm ET on ESPN Network.

He gave away absolutely no information about his future course of action except to describe both KC and AZ as having potentially great defenses, with both on the cum.

John Clayton and Randy Mueller kept asking him KC-related questions - like "how would you feel being able to play in a defense at KC with Rolle, Surtain or Law added to the defensive mix. (Hartwell's response was to howl like a wolf).

But he gave nothing away.

Cup half empty - No indication that anything was imminent in AZ.

Cup half full - KC obviously didn't sign him either (Clayton pointed out that KC was strapped cap wise - he gave them a $3.7 surplus not a $2.7 and Hartwell agreed they might have trouble signing both him and Rolle).

Cup on its side - Hartwell says he lets his agent point him to the next airplane to get on and that he likes to explore his options.

Cup right side up - Clayton and Mueller alluded to some sort of resolution being made within 48 hours. Hartwell didn't dispute this.

Hartwell would be a great pick up but I believe Hayes is a future too. The price has to be right, I don't want to be like Dallas or the Rams and overspend, after all we had a really good defense last year and haven't lost anybody except Starks.

I hope Hartwell was just trying to not blow a big money deal. Because comparing KC's defense to ours is a joke.

I do not get this overspend? Dallas is going to be a playoff team next year it appears to many. In an even world every team would spend their CAP money and start the season with most of the money used to upgrade the team. Who is to say any one overspends. Each team spends what they feel is justified for their needs. Each team evaluates players differently. One team might think a guy is worth 1 mil a year and another 3 mil a year. The market drives prices and one can hardly say with any justification if a team over spent or not. After the season you can make your judgement but at this point it is pure speculation.

I don't think anyone should ever mention the words "overspend" and "Cardinals" in the same statement. Not until we've at least reached the salary cap and/or won the Superbowl.

There are over 400 FA's left. That's alot to choose from and I believe Dallas overspent. We are both speculating, that's what fans do.

I'm not impressed at ALL by Dallas' signings. I really think they did very little to truly better themselves and they threw out money like they were landing the final pieces to the Super Bowl puzzle.

I'm also on the side that will say what Dallas did this off season will not help them to any more wins than they had last year. We will wait and see I could be very wrong but at this time I just don't see it.

They did question Hartwell about the importance of having some serious run-stuffing DT's in front of him. He was emphatic that it was indeed important. So I wonder if and how much that will come in to play with his decision to sign with the Cards or not? I like Russell Davis and he had a good year last year but we still seem weak in this department.

He was better. But he certainly isnt a run stuffer.

I agree. I don't think Ferguson is the answer at DT and Bledsoe is going to get killed behind that line.

True dat Shane. Harry kinda likes Tony Williams. Who does he play for and is he any good? He must be a free-agent. I wonder if Cards will bring him in?

Tony Williams is a FA, he played for the Bengals last year.

Scout.com has him as the 5th highest rated DT in the market.

However he does seem kinda small (292 lbs) for the run stuffer we need though. Then again Green's D relies on speed so I think he could fit in. Who knows

My buddy is die hard Bungs fan so I've seen a lot of games. Williams is Russell Davis but more of a turnstyle. He sucks. Serious downgrade if we bring him in. It will hurt.
