i don't think so, but if we did, that would have to go down as the most epic collapse in history... for a franchise full of epic collapses.

I think the Chargers once when 9-1 and finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs.

Injuries finally took their toll.

We won't win another game at this rate. I blame management for our QB situation I said last year and I will say it again, Palmer is fine as a starter but we need the future starter on the roster RIGHT NOW!

Who in the last two draft classes would have helped us that we realistically could have drafted??? Cuz none of these guys that were drafted would be our savior right now ...

2013 qbs
EJ Manuel
Geno Smith
Mike Glennon
Matt Barkley
Ryan Nassib
Tyler Wilson
Landry Jones
Brad Sorensen
Zac Dysert
B.J. Daniels
Sean Renfree

2014 qbs
Blake Bortles
Johnny Manziel
Teddy Bridgewater
Derek Carr
Jimmy Garoppolo
Logan Thomas
Tom Savage
Aaron Murray
AJ McCarron
Zach Mettenberger
David Fales
Keith Wenning
Tajh Boyd
Garrett Gilbert

To be honest, I wouldn't mind a QB like Mettenberger.

Mettenberger - Played 5 games 7 td 5 int 58% completion

Stanton - 6 games 5 td 3 int 53% completion

hardly a difference to claim he would be our savior right now.

Uh, where did you get your numbers from? Stanton has 7 games and 5 picks against only 6 TDs. Not good, not good at all. And I'm not reading anyone saying Mettenberger's our savior either.

the answer is "no, 9-1 teams have always made the playoffs.

--that is until this year. The Cardinals are about to crumble and lose out.

so sad.

The game is so fast and complex that quarterbacks can't come in and prosper right away unless they are truly exceptional. And now, with the growing tendency for guys to come out early from college, after two or three years even at quarterback (to avoid the chance of injury), their capacity for contribution is even yet worse.

You'd have to find someone extraordinary, like Luck, or a highly competent player like Wilson who gets dropped onto the best roster in the game.

I really wonder what the brass thinks of Logan Thomas at this point. A fourth round pick is nothing to sneeze at.

Only chance I see for us is to win our 2 home games. But obviously its against 2 good opponents. We play like an entire different team at home (especially Stanton) and we are undefeated here. Hopefully we can find a miracle to pull off 2 more wins and let other teams make it in instead of us keeping us out!

Because I believe he has the skill set to be a successful QB. The fact that he plays for a terrible team is not his fault. Also, he's a rookie whereas Stanton has been in the league since 2008 and rookies will make their share of mistakes but the games he's been in he's been far and above way better than Stanton has been. Mettenberger has a 60% completion rate and is an 87.8 rating where Stanton is a 77% rating. There's far more upside with Mettenberger than there is with Stanton and Thomas combined.

I made the comment that I wouldn't mind having Mettenberger and we could have gotten him as he went in the 6th round where we drafted Thomas in the 4th which was a head scratcher when it happened. I think if we had him instead of Thomas we'd be in far better shape.

I know, but you didn't call Mettenberger a savior as the other poster claimed. And I agree with the Thomas pick being a weird one.
