How do you set up remote access for Windows XP? I have a laptop I let my parents use and want to set it up so I can fix any issues they have from home or my work.

Thanks,
Dave

A quick search first led me to microsoft's XP remote configuration, but it seemed to have issues between XP Pro and XP home, and seemed difficult to set up.

I found and installed tight VNC - http://www.tightvnc.com in about 5 mins, and I can control my home computer from my work computer. It's free and seems to work OK. You have to set up the remote computer with a password and run it as a server, then run the client from the home machine.

Yea, for XP there is a remote desktop feature. You have to enable it under My Computer(right click): properties: Remote

It connects via port 3389 so if you want to come in through a firewall, you have to allow that port.
