Adams injured in pre-draft workout
Posted: Friday June 23, 2006 7:52PM; Updated: Friday June 23, 2006 7:52PM

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Arizona basketball player Hassan Adams suffered a stress fracture in his foot which could be a possible setback to his preparations for next week's NBA draft.
Adams sustained the injury when former Texas player P.J. Tucker accidentally stepped on his foot in a workout in New Jersey on Wednesday.

Arizona coach Lute Olson confirmed the injury and said Adams should be out about two weeks.
Adams has worked out for as many as 10 teams as he prepares for Wednesday's draft.
"The word is he's really helped himself with the workouts," Olson said. "He's moving up in the draft."
It's not clear if the injury will affect his draft status. Many have expected the All Pac-10 player to be taken in the first or second round.

Why is this a two week injury for everyone on earth but Kurt Thomas?

OK, you made me laugh and I did wonder the same thing myself. (Even though it probably has something to do with the location of the fracture.)

Wait 'til Hassan is 33, then see how long it takes him to recover. ;)

I don't know how much Hassan's stock is hurt by this, but I don't see any way it helps the Suns.

Adams could fall into the middle third of the second round where he'd be worth taking. He's a reach at 27, but not at 40-45. (They'd have to trade to get a pick in that range).

Adams has not gotten much love on the mocks, but he's a super athlete and a tough defender whose primary problem is size and weak shooting. Considering that Boris was not viewed as a good shooter when the Suns picked him up, it would be interesting to know if they think they could do something with Adam's stroke.

Having watched Hassan for 4 years at the UofA, and really paying attention this past year, I'll pass.

His shooting never improved, he started auditioning for the NBA (hurting the UofA team), can't dribble, can't create his own shot, and hasn't proven himself to be a good guy off the court or a leader for that matter.

He is good at the hilight reel dunk though, that much he can do.

Adams will make it (if he makes it) entirely on how well he plays defense. Some people think he might be the best perimeter defender in the draft (or perhaps second only to Bobby Jones). Neither can shoot.

The guy averaged 17.5 points and 5 rebounds, is an athlete and never shot below 47.8% in college. I think his upside is worth taking a look at. His off the court issues were typical college stuff and will go away as he matures. He can create for himself at times. In the right offense he could be a good bench player for his first few years. Salim Stoudemire had question marks last season too coming out of the UofA and he turned out ok.
