There are several different grill options. One is without IIRC... I'm never around for MNF unless it is a Card's game...

Interesting since TV hasn't been this diverse in years.

Let me clarify. My expectations for TV and movies involve entertainment only. I am not looking for a thought-provoking or life-changing experience. It that happens, cool, but that's not what I'm necessarily looking for. Make sense?

I guess I have just tempered my expectations across the board over the past few years. :)

So, I FINALLY started watching the DVR copies of this show. I really, really like it. Will definitely keep tuning in.

Is everyone still enamored of this show? I think the writing is very suspect. The episode with Tzi Ma and Reiko Aylesworth was laughingly bad IMO. Some of the comments these guys make are just incredibly inane. And the sappiness factor was off the charts. TV is pretty bad in general right now but even against weak competition this show isn't going to survive long if they don't tighten things up.

Absolutely disagree. It's pulling in huge numbers right now--by far the best of any new show this season. It's not a thinking man's show, and for that reason I like it. Plus, they film in Hawaii and I just love that place.

Worst part of the show easily is when they identify themselves as "5-0". Who the hell knows they're cops unless they saw the original Hawaii 5-0? :)

You absolutely disagree? Does that mean you're fine with the slipshod writing or are you disagreeing with my take on the writing. It may not be a thinking man's show but that doesn't mean it has to elevate stupid to an art form.

I know it's doing well; it has great scenery (pretty places and pretty people), it's on the perfect network and frankly, most everything else on TV just blows. But you can only trot out inane dialogue and weak story lines (like the one I referenced earlier) so often before you drive away your loyal following. I still watch it but that's the result of a lack of appealing alternatives. Put this up against the shows that debuted last summer and it pales in comparison IMO.

I don't think the writing is that bad, considering the type of show this is.

You consider yourself a loyal follower? Doesn't seem like it to me. Although you ARE CBS' core audience. It's a lot more fun than Law and Order and CSI drek.

I never cared for the weekly routine where Caan would whine about the topic of the day but for the most part I liked the show until recently. I'm one episode behind but IMO the last couple episodes have been a dropoff from earlier in the season.

Well, I wasn't really talking about me but since I've watched every episode except for this week's show, I guess I sort of count as a loyal follower. I don't want the show cancelled, I want it improved. I may be in the CBS demographic but I only watch 3 shows that I can think of (5-0, NCIS, Criminal Minds) and with Hawaii and Criminal Minds both taking a step back I don't consider any of them "must see" TV.

Edit: I forgot about 2 CBS shows that I still consider "must see" TV. Big Bang Theory has become a less consistently funny show but I still love it when it's good and The Mentalist is one of my favorite network shows.

Very entertaining show. There is not enough fun shows on TV right now IMO. Everybody is trying to be the next CSI whatever. This show is a breath of fresh air in the Cop genre.

I agree... I like the banter between MyGarrett and Dan'O as well... I was thinking they would pic up the hacker (Tsunami episode) as a 5-0 officer but I guess not.

I have concerns about the direction (downward, IMO) this show is taking. It looks like I'm in a distinct minority.

To me this show is mindless fun. Could the writing improve? Of course but you could say that about 95% of tv.

Just started watching this. Through three episodes. Enjoying it so far.

I have a friend that has been an extra in a few episodes (only one in season 1, haven't hit it yet), but doing a lot right now, so it will be fun to try to spot him.

Ridiculous stories, but watching the show is like being on vacation in Hawaii--it's very much filmed like a travelogue. Plus, it's nice to see all the Lost alums show up on it--2 of which are now regulars.
