I made that comment earlier. What idiots allowed that to happen? You would think someone would have noticed the conflict at NFL HQ.

Wasn't that big a deal when the Cards games were at SDS but now both venues are out west where large numbers of people will travel I-10W. May be better to come in from the North on 101 and avoid I-10 west altogether.

I think traffic will be bad from all directions... though it may be a little better to come in from the North on the 101; I am considering this and I live in the SE valley!

If anyone thinks traffic is bad for the football game, keep in mind that the Nascar race draws about 3X the number of people as a football game.

Hotels all over are sold out and others are asking for 2-3 times the normal rates. Last time I was there during a NASCAR weekend at least half the people at the airport were there for the race.

it's gets busy with the race - the bigger problem is leaving - a lot of race fans get in early, the RVs & campers are there days in advance - but everyone leaves at the same time - same with football - i think i'll just hang out in my house and watch football all day

We go early. Around 10am for the 1 oclock starts 11 for the 2pm but may go at 9:30 or 10 this week.

For al of those who don't know their way around the west valley...Get off on I-17 at Northern, or Bethany and take that to 91st ave...It will be no big deal. Avoid the 101 loop all together.

Not a bad idea. Phoenix is the rare city where their surface streets move faster than their freeways during rush hour.

Not familar with the West Valley. What and where is the PIR for the NASCAR race? (Note I live in Scottsdale take the N101 and get off at Northern.)

The PIR is southwest in the Estrella Mountain Ranch/Avondale area south of I-10 about as far south as Baseline though I don't think Baseline goes through to the track.

i reccomend 99th ave, it has its own road that crosses the freeway and is usually pretty easy going, that or just driving down glendale, dont go all the way around

I live about 3 miles from PIR and I don't think going to the game will be a problem. However, after the game I-10 east will be a mess and maybe even the 101 north. Hopefully the Cards game will finish before the race ends. Also traffic out of PIR to the freeway will be bumper to bumper for 3 hours.

Unfortunately the start times of the two events will likely cause them to finish at the same time. The Valleys civic leaders may have created one of the worst traffic nightmares in history as the I-10 East is a mess just from the Cardinals game.

They used to have SouthXSouthwest Music festival in Austin the same weekend as the Boys State Basketball tournament. It was a mess. They finally wised up and moved the SXSW to a different weekend.
