They said--- Joe Garigiola said it would be hard to re-sign Miguel Bautista.

Great.....

Now we'll have
Randy
Webb
Dessens
4th
5th

uh oh

It would be conceivable to find a cheap starting pitcher via free agency or from our minors, but 2.....

Not to mention Dessens hasn't been that good and if he starts off bad again we should look elsewhere. That said, there's potential we might need 3 new starting pitchers. (Not to mention a good spot reliever)

Not saying the sky is falling, especially since nothing has happened on the Bautista front in terms of signing, but this does have a potential for disaster.

Hadn't you heard? We're going with eight lefty specialists in the bullpen and three starting pitchers.

I can't believe how short-sighted that idiot GM is. On top of all the other stuff - Not bringing back Miggy, or, I am willing to bet, Baerga... well, as a halfway intelligent fan, I am feeling pretty insulted. Call me cynical, but I don't see a team made up of Randy, Webb, Sexson, Gonzo (assuming he can even play), Cintron and two or three Finley hot streaks getting us much past the NL West basement. There's going to have to be a lot of other guys having career years, to fill out a competitive team.

Another issue is ...don't you just love the pitchers Joe has gone out and gotten for us? (I still assume Schilling was as much a Showalter decision as it was the GM's.) I suspect we'll be seeing a couple babybacks rounding out the rotation, but ... oops, we just shipped out the only near-ready lefty. (Who they were talking about sticking in the bullpen, anyway.)

Fossum will be in the rotation.

Gotta showcase the wonderful talent the D-Backs got for Curt Schilling.

Including Capuano in the Sexson deal was moronic beyond belief. Joe "the ho" gets fleeced in almost every deal. He should go back to practicing law with the other "ho's"
I'm going to send him a tube of KY jelly for Christmas. After the last two trades, I'm sure his supply is running low

SMOMN! There is some black humor to be found in all this, and I actually really like this idea. Gonna do it.

You all are so smart. You know so much more about our players and other teams players than our scouts. You know so much more about what our players and prospects are worth on the open market even though you've never actually heard from another g.m. what he would be willing to give up for, say, Spivey or Capuano.
You guys are geniuses. I'm sure if any of you were running the team, we'd have more than one w.s. title and three nl west titles in the past six years.

I'd imaging Joe Jr. is going to wait to see which veteran starting pitchers don't sign early and try to get one cheap just before spring training, like a Damian Moss or a Wilson Alvarez.

What you describe sounds like shopping at Filene's Bargain Basement. And it's not like I trust his judgment on pitchers.

We're not geniuses - we're just disgruntled fans.

the d-backs have only been around for a short while and we already have a world series championship and have had a handful of playoff appearances, what is there to be disgruntled about. i'll give Garigiola jr the benefit of the doubt becouse he has certainly deserved it.

Buck Showalter assembled the 2001 team for the most part, Joe "the ho" and Brenly just take the credit for it. Showalter might have stunk as a manager but, he was a good evaluator of talent, and Jerry spent alot of money back then. Since Showalter left, our trades have resembled the bottom of my cat litter box. Joe Jr is a lawyer, he knows squat about baseball.

Edit: The only reason Jr got the job in the first place is because of his dad.
