Well, 2 or 3 years ahead anyway.

First of all the PS3 is going to be ahead because it was released more recently.

Also I , if I am not mistaken, the PS3 has hardware designed to go into a console game system while the XBOX is basically a PC in a console container.

Biggest factors working against the PS3 is probably the cost and the number of games available for it compared to the other consoles. Beyond that it doesn't have any downside that I can see.

Not in the GPU/Memory department. They skimped their because the Cell processor was expensive to produce. They actually use a worse and inferior architecture.

Also the Cell processor was not developed for gaming. Sony developed the CPU to be used an entire line of their products. The Sony gaming unit was pressured to use the Cell in the PS3 to help legitimize it's development.

There is a reason that most of the same games for the 360 look the same and in many cases look better on the 360 or run better (a la Madden).

Thanks...I have another question and it may need to be moved to tech forum. My tv is hd(1080p i believe) but the PS3 only comes with standard av cables. I heard that hdmi cables range greatly in price but it doesn't really affect the resolution unless you are wiring things at large distances. Is that true or does the cable quality matter. The guy at best buy was trying to tell me I had to get at least a 100 dollar hdmi cable to make the ps3 picture look any better. Also, does anyone know where to get a cheap hdmi cable?

www.monoprice.com

You can get a 6' HDMI cable for around $5. Independant tests have confirmed equal or better quality than Monster cables.

8 - Did I mention that the Playstation Network is free? Sure, it's not quite on par with Live. But hey, I can't complain too much about anything that's free. I don't really play online much. So I was essentially paying MS $82 a year to play COD4. (The only online game I play atm.)

"Home" looks like an interesting answer to the Live service. And apparently they're adding in game messaging / invites / etc. Once they do so, it will essentially be XBox Live without the fee.

You are paying month to month for the service. You can get 13 month live subscriptions for about $35-$40 online.

Home will never be close to Xbox live.

EA didn't get Madden to 60fps until it's third season on the 360. It should be fine next year.

I was paying month to month because I wasn't sure if I'd want to keep it. And Home looks pretty interesting. (And again, free.) Sony just needs to get in-game messaging / invites finished and it will be equal to live. A handful of games also have dedicated servers. I've never seen this on Live.

If it weren't for MS's awful hardware I'd still have a 360. (And the fact that they nickel and dime you for everything. $100 wireless adapter? $170 HD player? $15 charger kit? $100 for a hard drive?)

People always say the PS3 is too expensive. Look at the 360 Elite.

Console: $450
Wireless: $100
HD-DVD: $170
Charger: $15

$735 for everything the PS3 can do at $399 - $499.

I'd actually still rather have a 360 since most of my friends do. But we never played online enough for it to matter anyways I guess. So I decided to make the switch due to the reliable Sony hardware, MGS4, MLB The Show, GT5, UT3, Home, huge PS2 library, Blu-Ray, free online, etc. And at the very least I can still play 360 exclusives at medium settings on my PC.

6 - As I type this I'm installing Yellow Dog Linux. From some tutorials I've read I can installed NES / SNES / Genesis emulators and configure the PS3 controller to work. Yeah, its nothing special. But it's a fun project.

How has that worked out?
