Back in the day, there were rumors of some significance that the Suns were trying to acquire Olajuwon. Was this before, during or after Barkley's tenure here? What I remember is that the rumors were active prior to Rudy T taking over as coach. Is that right? What are the circumstances around that rumor?

PS - I remmeber the Dumas-Rodman deal all too well....

I don't remember the details of when that was. In terms of the Dumas-Rodman deal??? OMG that one still hurts. You could have gift wrapped the title if Barkley and Rodman were on the same team.

I think the trade was agreed upon after the 92-93 season. The enxt day Dumaas went in drug rehab. Don't remember the trade to Hakeem

I think this rumored trade carried on for a few years prior to the Rockets winning b2b and then sprung up again, mainly as rumor, when word surfaced that Barkely was being shopped.

I don't remember that one, but I do remember a Mutombo for Barkley deal that was all finalized but then nixed by the league office for some reason. It would have been nice to get Mutombo back for Barkley instead of Cassell, Horry and whoever.

I don't think that Mutombo deal was for Barkley, though I do remember that it was nixed because of tampering. I don't remember anything about a deal with Olajuwon.
