The Jacksonville Jaguars completed the biggest blockbuster trade in franchise history on Thursday, the first night of the 2025 NFL Draft, to select Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter with the second-overall pick.

Jacksonville gave up its 2026 first-round pick in addition to the team's fifth-overall pick, second-round pick (No. 36) and fourth-round pick (No. 126) to acquire No. 2 and the Nos. 104 (Round 4) and 200 (Round 6) selections in this year's draft from the Cleveland Browns.

Though some may grumble at the idea of losing a first-round pick next year, Jaguars general manager James Gladstone showed no remorse for making the call.

ALL SMILES FROM TRAVIS HUNTER: Why Travis Hunter says Jacksonville Jaguars picking him in NFL Draft 'means a lot'

“You know what, I probably got some familiarity with the ‘them picks’ sort of process. For our fans, I'll tell you, don't be scared. This is something I'm uniquely positioned to navigate," Gladstone said, referencing his former boss and Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead, famously sporting a "them picks" shirt at the Super Bowl parade years ago when LA took him the ultimate crown.

"We ended up bringing Travis Hunter to Jacksonville, and with that, he is somebody who is deserving of a first-round draft pick as a wide receiver, and he is worthy of a first-round draft pick as a corner. Certainly, look forward to each of those elements showing themselves over the next few years while he is under his rookie contract, but yeah, we're excited about just getting him in the boat, so to speak.”

Still, the Jaguars have nine picks remaining in this year's draft thanks to Gladstone's deal with the Browns, giving the team a higher fourth-round selection and an additional sixth-round selection to give up the team's second-round selection.

The historic moment shouldn't be overshadowed. The Jaguars picked a player who was the first to ever be announced with two positions. The first place the Jaguars have selected that required both the offensive coordinator (Grant Udinski) and defensive coordinator (Anthony Campanile) to be in the room to welcome the pick to Jacksonville.

But, there's more to come yet.

"We still have nine picks on the horizon, and as much as we're excited about what took place here today, we're excited about getting back to work and bringing those players into this ecosystem to continue to level it up by being, again, nothing more than who they are," Gladstone said.
