"with renowned cheapskate team owners Bill and Michael Bidwill."

"Remember, these are the owners who reportedly charged players for extra socks, jock straps and T-shirts. These are the owners of one of the lowest-valued franchises. These are the owners who a year ago wouldn't budge on an incentive clause in Warner's contract that paid him $500,000 bonus for finishing the season with a 90.0 passer rating."

"These are the owners who have so much cap money in part because they spent only $108 million of last year's $116 million ceiling."

Ridiculous. What's this guy's E-mail addy?

Other than labeling the Bidwills as cheap, everything else he states is factual. We haven't exactly been the best run franchise in the history of the NFL (I do think it unfair to lump Michael in there as he's been a big reason for the turn around). Other than that, I think it was a pretty good piece.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the NFL keep the Cardinals from paying Warner the bonus?

And didn't we have 8 million in dead money last year?

Michael has changed the mindset of the team as far a $$$$ are concerned. However, these writers live in the past and cannot do any current research. It is getting very old.

I love what he says, and agree with his assessment of Suggs. He also suggests the Cards can be a perennial contender, I don't see much to object with.

I read the article and am not impressed. For an opinion writer to have credability with me he has to do some research and get his facts right. The two things which jumped out at me the most were his statements that Warner was denied the 500k because the Bidwills are cheap and that Suggs could make Phoenix his new hometown. The NFL prohibits paying an unmet incentive and Phoenix already is Suggs' hometown. A writer should know these things or keep his fingers off the keyboard. Then again, he had me at "ESPN".

Other than the Bidwill bashing, that was a decent article.
You must have missed this gem:
In a week, the Cardinals went from near-champions to the increasing likelihood that a year from now the newspapers' stories will say, "The seeds for Arizona's disappointing 5-11 season were planted in the offseason . . . "
Wickersham talks out of two faces...

thought it was interesting that he called anquan a "perennial malcontent." before this year he didn't seem to be a malcontent, but that wouldn't be as snazzy a line for the his story. overall the article was "meh."

BECAUSE they're the Cardinals...

I was listening to Michael Smith's/ESPN comments about "Q" the other day at the Pro Bowl. He said, the Cardinals WILL NOT trade Boldin and will have him sit out the up-coming season because, well, they're the Cardinals. What the media keeps trying to do is to paint this picture that the Cardinals haven't changed. Well, they have changed ever since UofP came to exist. I have had no problem with mgmt. decisions since Whiz' & staff came on board. Obviously, it's working because we went to the Super Bowl!! It wasn't an accident, luck, or any other reason you'd like to insert. This team played with heart & determination and rallied from being down 4 x's. I fully expect the Cards to be competitive in the up-coming years and will fully ENJOY listening to the media trying to explain it.

If we would have beat the Steelers by 40 in the SB, then go on to 3-peat, we would still have to endure "The cheap Bidwill's" BS articles.

I hate the press.. hate hate hate em.
