The National Football Post believes the Bills could still decide to "part ways" with WR Lee Evans.

Evans had another down year in his first season in Chan Gailey's offense in 2010, while the Bills have added Brad Smth to an already deep receiving corps. The Post's Dan Pompei reports "interesting parties have been sniffing around" with regards to a potential trade.

He had a down year because nobody could get him the ball.

He is not a free agent so the Cards would have to make a trade for him. Since we don't have a 2nd round next year I'm not sure if the Cards want to give up any more draft choices. However, I do like Evans.

Not that i think he wouldn't improve our receiving unit, he would, most likely. But why do you think nobody could get him the ball? Ryan Fitzpatrick actually has more TD's than INT's (23-15) and better QB rating than Kolb (11-14). If Fitzpatrick couldn't do it, why do you think Kolb will?

Fitzpatrick was quarterbacking his team very well most of the time, at times I was even impressed. Despite the fact that he has no real talent around him.

For Vonnie Holliday and a 5th?

How is this for timing!!! Maybe Cards are inquiring. What would it take to get him??
Good call Sportznutt!!

Bills WR Lee Evans could be on the trading block

Dan Pompei of the National Football Post reports the Bills have a crowd at the receiver position after the acquisition of Brad Smith. The former Jet joins Lee Evans, Steve Johnson and Robert Parrish, so don’t be surprised if the Bills part ways with Evans. The veteran had a down year in 2010 with only 37 catches, and he could have some trade value. Interesting parties have been sniffing around.

Did a google search and found out that Lee Evans contract size for this year is $3,275,000. Cards could afford it but don't know if that is what they would be willing to pay for this need.

Looks like in 2011 and 2012 he has a base salary of $3.275M as you state, jam, but he also gets a $3M roster bonus in each year---so his salary would be $6.275 a year for the next two years.

Now we know why they want to trade him---they don't want to pay him the extra $3M roster bonus.

Anyone who trades for him at this point would likely have to redo his contract.

Did not see the $3M bonus. I agree with you, no one is going to pay $6.275M for him.

I would take him if he is cut but would roll the dice with our guys if he required a draft pick.

Can the 6th round. Pick him up after Buffalo cuts him.

Agree. Unless he's starting for them, I can't see them giving him a 3 mill bonus. He'd be ideal here as a deep threat because that's about all he's good for.

I would take Evans on a reworked contract. He's only 30, and he's still one of the best deep threats in the game.

Johnny Knox also expressed grief about his situation today. I wouldn't have any problem giving up a mid-round pick for him, if he becomes available.

I,too, think that Lee Evans would make a good #2 WR. However, we have more pressing needs, NT and OT, imo, being the top two. And maybe SS depending upon AW's injury. I'm hoping that a couple of our young wideouts step up and I think they will. The team must like AR as he's passed a healthy ED on the depth chart. My guess is that AR will have a good year and my surprise WR is Isaiah Williams. It is the deepest (IMO) position on the team. PS games will be interesting.

Knox - though not considered "polished" - has the speed we supposedly covet.

There is nothing to be done about OT in this offseason, but there are a number of seasoned NT's out there looking for work. Evans would be a good # 2 candidate, but have a hard time imagining he'd pass up an opportunity in Baltimore, if offered. They've got Q and literally nothing else.

Make it happen!!! He's the speed guy this O needs...I would cough up a 4th for him, he's every bit worth it IMO. The Cards used to never make trades & all of a sudden...WTF. Who kidnapped the human snail @ Cardinal HQ.

He would have to be traded likely so where he wants to go doesnt factor in to the equation. I'm also not sure Lee Evans is scared to compete with Andre Roberts and Doucet either.

According to Mike jureki Cards are showing interst in him.
I saw this too and couldn't believe it! He would be a great pick up and would pretty much be the last piece of the puzzle for the offense.

I know a lot of people want something to be done at OT but that is not going to happen this year.

Out of all the names I've heard tossed around the Cards getting at #2 Lee Evans is the most exciting. Edwards is a huge disappointment and is going will continue to be so in SF, Moss is a trainwreck and Roberts and Doucett are solid 3's not viable long term options at #2. The addition of Evans could make this offense very explosive.

i ain't believing Jureki ever again. would be a nice addition to the WR core though. he's not great, but his speed could open up the field.
