Assuming DD plays out his last year here. ARZ will have to wait a year as Oakman is going back to school.

Trey Flowers from Arkansas is a MUCHO better football player! I'd take him on the Cards roster in a heartbeat. :D

One thing I can't stand...having watched the NFL for 20 years now...is comparing any college player to A PROVEN NFL PLAYER.
Look at the last draft and all the hype Clowney..and anyone else you can think of...NONE few are even solid NFL players....Cards got good with Buchanen...but most are simply players or busts.

Shoot Sammy Watkins didn't even hit 1,000 yards and the Bills bet the farm on him.

the draft is all hype and over reading the smallest detail

What is wrong with comparing how a player projects to a current NFL player? He didn't say he was as good as DD is currently. Somebody will replace DD. I think Yeldon, the RB from Bama, compares to AP. That doesn't mean I think he's going to be a better pro than Peterson. Would you rather have him say Oakman can be the next Barron Tanner?

I think he compares to Hageman from last year. I think Oakman is more consistent and a better prospect though. I actually don't think he will last to our pick. Having Rucker, Dockett, and Stinson combined with the depth at other areas of need I doubt this is the way we go.

Bunch if Al Davis Jrs. in here

Hes big and scary, therefore a helluva player.

Not so. And if you dont watch alot of college football, its an innocent mistake because he is in fact very visually impressive looking.

But Shawn Oakman is an extremely inconsistent and at times, invisible player. For a guy that big, youd expect him to dominant every single snap. He doesnt. Sometimes he flashes. Most of the time he gets stonewalled by tackle whos smaller than he is. He noticeably takes alot of plays off. So big does not = talented. And to add to all of it, hes got a quirky personality. Hes gotten into some trouble.

Don't like Oakman as a 3-4 DE. Maybe a rush OLB like Peppers in Green Bay.

This

The guy is an imposing physical specimen. But he plays a finesse / speed game more than a physical one.

I think we would be a higher drafted Kareem Martin: lots of tools, hasn't learned the nuances of the position and a guy at this point next year we would be wondering why he wasn't plying more or more productive.
