Close to mine. Switch Gandy and Keith for me. Gandy has proven to be solid but not an elite LT. So if Keith "beats" him out for the LT position then that would be an upgrade.

Waiting for Joeshmo to trample the fantasy about this in 10, 9, 8 ...
Yea then we would have two OT's with ZERO NFL Starts...

I have calmed down & just would like to see Keith at LG and Wells start at Center.

LT-Gandy, LG-Keith, C-Wells, RG-Deuce, RT-Brown :hastheball:

LT-Gandy - C-Wells - RT-Brown

Let Deuce, Brown, Keith, Johnson, Canfield, Ross fight it out for the two guard slots.

(The Cards like to pull the Left guard, and from what I've seen Elton Brown is the more likely to fill that role.)

That works for me.

Whiz saying that Dockett and Boldin's hamstring injuries were seasonal was a riot!

Duece looked chubby at Fanfest. Hope he knows that he's fighting for his career this summer. It's gotta be Lutui or Brown that goes. Even if Gandy is getting long in the tooth he's still a starting LT and those are hard to find. Of course, if we switch to a lefty behind center, perhaps RT becomes the most important O-line position. Have you guys considered that we might be drafting/developing for life after Kurt?

If they do make a change we will know that that player really outplayed the incumbent starter because of how much Wiz and Grimm value continuity. Unlike in previous years when it just seems to be a mix and match game with no real rhyme or reason.

So if Keith or another OL is able to break through we will know its because they really excelled.

I agree. On the other hand I don't know if Duece is replaced that the new RG would have had to excel so much as be a little more then adequate.

People seem to be down on Deuce. I think he has been solid. Not great, but solid. We have had much worse than him.

My major concern involves his run blocking. Against high-level college opponents, he was able to get away with running to a spot, walling off would-be tacklers and daring them to move around him (& by that time, the RB typically would be through the hole and gonzo).

But I don't know if he can get away with that at the pro level, and never saw him get his pad level low and drive block. (Now watch Russ G replace Gandy and shift guys before training campis halfway completed).

Nice points, I think it's gotta be a task being 6'7" and trying to get "low" on a guy 6'2". Whatta pain that's gotta be.

I get what you're saying him using his size to wall defenders off, and you're right, that won't fly at the pro level.

At the end of the day, unless someone works themselves into a doghouse I'm thinking last year's starters will be this year's starters. Baring injury of course.

I think its a tribute to HC Whiz and OL Coach Grimm. We are excited about two late rd draft pics (H Johnson and Canfield) and a UDFA from last yr (B Keith)

The Cardinals would have an extra jumbo package with:

TE: A.Becht 6"5" 280lbs
RT: L.Brown 6'5" 322lbs
RG: D.Lutui 6'4" 332lbs
OC: R.Wells 6"4" 308lbs . QB:M.Leinart 6'5" 232lbs .... FB: D.Kreider 5'11" 255lbs ...... RB:Wells 6'1" 235lbs.
LG: B.Keith 6"5" 343lbs
LT: H.Johnson 6"7" 382lbs
TE: E.Brown 6'5" 332lbs

WR: L.Fitzgerald 6'3" 220lbs

Ridiculous.

The term "will" comes to mind.

The difference between the 1990's Big Red and the current monster line we are accumulating in Arizona is that the current line is being coached by Russ Grimm.

We're talking a guy who was called a Hog. Blocked for John Riggins and Joe Washington. Won a Superbowl.

That is a serious, serious reality right there. Try and stop that formation when it is 3rd and 1, 4th and 1, or any down/situation that arises AND goal.

Money. I'll take my chances with that.

For all the lack of faith in his game that is on this board I also want to point out Timmy in these situations. He went something like 12/12 to start the season on those type of situations and is the best goal line back I have witnessed in my 15 or so years as a fan of this team.

Whenever we had 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 and Tim got the ball it was money all day.

No doubt about it. He should be the GL back and the short yardage back.

Since we're re-trying things, i.e. a new leonard davis, another attempt at a hog line, I just noticed in bold it's another 700 lbs of ass.

Hopefully good things come in three's

The following seems to be more the rule than the exception:

Using the Giants as the example -One day you wake up and suddenly what was a lackluster unit is magically one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

What we may be seeing -right before our very eyes - is the metamorphisis of a previously much-criticized and somewhat rag-tag group into a "how'd they get so good?" (and how come we didn't see it happening?) Cardinal offensive line.

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but a year or two from now, I can see a whole bunch of folks may be annointing Russ Grimm as some sort of O-line magician.

And we can say that "we were there" while it was happening - we can see the seeds being planted right now.

Considering that everyone is still saying that Kieth is being groomed as an OT, a possibly the future at LT, could him lining up at RG be a sign to Lutui (who I think most consider one of the lesser starters on the line) that it's time to either step up or go sit on the bench?

I'd be all for letting Keith start a season at RG before sliding out to tackle when Gandy is gone. Lutui drives me nuts.

You could be right. The first mini camp always has a habit of setting the tone of the offseason moving into training camp. You better believe a lot of the decisions that are made have player physcology in mind, and by that I mean putting certian players on notice, without actually saying it.

The players know how much the coaches like Keith and Vallejo so anyone in front of them just might be looking over their shoulders.
