I like Bruce Arians. I think he’s a better coach than Ken Whisenhunt. I think the players like him and feel like they’re treated fairly by him. I would like to see him keep his job because of these reasons.

This team — even at full strength — is one that would need a lot of help to make a Wild Card berth, must less win the division. You can’t afford to throw a challenge flag on the second play of the game without understanding that there’s no camera angle that shows what you saw.

When this team was good, we heard a lot about the “accountability board” — assuming that there were few names on it. Today, we don’t hear anything about it. Does the board still exist? Is it just the depth chart? Is there any doubt that despite mistakes on special teams — again — the same group of players will be trotted out again on Sunday?

Kerwynn Williams – He’s the third man on most depth charts in the NFL. It’s a testament to how deep the running backs are today that Williams could still gain nearly 100 yards.

Kareem Martin – Fun fact: Martin has not had a sack since his second NFL season. He’s been a solid presence this year in a two- and three-point stance, but is also the kind of player that GM Steve Keim has chosen to let walk in free agency.

Josh Bynes – How bad must Hasson Reddick and Scooby Wright be? Bynes came in off the street and is a more physical presence than Deone Bucannon, although he gives something up in pass coverage.

Tyrann Mathieu – Mathieu played 78 snaps yesterday between the defense and special teams. Maybe he’s trying to make up in quantity what he’s lacking in quality.

Hasson Reddick – Played just eight defensive snaps this week. On one of them, he got close to QB Jared Goff, but was unable to maintain a grip on the QB. The sign for hope was that the pass rush came from the interior.

Robert Nkemdiche – Played 14 defensive snaps and didn’t make much of an impact on any of them while also failing to make an appearance on the stat sheet. Was out-snapped by four defensive tackles, and two more (Corey Peters and Josh Mauro) were inactive.

So no Blaine Gabbert on the GOATS list Huh. Those two first quarter INT's in the first burried us

Funny because I missed chunks of the game but the one chunk for 90 was playing he got a very solid hit on Goff that caused an incompletion so I was hoping he actually played well, sounds like he didn't I just happened to see his only good play.

This is why I think coaching should be on the goat list.

I echo your sentiments with BA K9, problem is, some of his assistant coaches need to be shown their pink slip. BA isn't down for that so he'll probably have to go too.

Instead of Kerwynn (who did an excellent job playing with cracked ribs) you could put the left side of the line. I don't know why they got away from it after it worked every time they ran to that side it seemed.

I give K9 credit on this.
Gabbert did drop us in a hole and then he (and Kerwyn and the O-line) almost dragged us out, to the point we had a one score game going.

Then ST did their magic, the O-line stopped run blocking (they never actually started pass blocking), JJ Nelson again decided he didn't know how to catch, 2 nice drives were snuffed by idiotic penalties (negating + 15 yard pass plays for first down) by Boone and Gresham. Neither hold was needed to get those plays off.

Gabbert was erratic and up and down. He still did better than any other Card QB against the Rams this year. We still need to see him some more.

Here are stats for Palmer's 1st 3 games as a Card (1 Win, 2 Losses) and Gabberts 1st 3 games as a Card (1 Win, 2 Losses).
.........Comp...Att...Pct....Yards...AvgPass...TD...Int..SACKS
Palmer....66....114...57.6....762....6.6.......3.....4....9
Gabbert...62....104...59.6....719....6.9.......6.....5....9

Pretty much same everything except BG has more TDs than CP. We need to see these last few games.

I saw that one too but the Niche if he had any value as first rounder would have shown some spurts of dominance and he has not... the only above average player we have on the DL is Peters which is not enough since Rucker tires going into the second half, Gunter is solid but we need a guy which requires a double team so Golden and Jones can feast :)

K9 you are being very kind not to name Gabbert on the list. Maybe it's because you have been critical in the past on him and tired of all the backlash that you have received from this board. Unfortunately, you are right on your analysis on Gabbert. Sad but true. Enough said. :(

At the 0:59 mark of this video, Arians states that the Rams made adjustments at half time - just as you'd expect Wade Phillips to do - and put a DT over the tight end to close the big holes they had been opening previously.

Keim needs to be on the hot seat because of his complete whiffs on 1st rounders. He needs to be on the goat list...unacceptable.

I think I might be one of the only people on this board who doesn't have an issue with Arians talking about players not executing. I rarely watch a play call and think the scheme was the fault.

But my caveat to his statements on execution is that either thr players aren't good enougj or they need to be coached on execution...

I do when Bettcher calls a zone defense, but most of the time you’re right.

Ha! I was just going to say the same thing. I remember seeing that play as well. I was like OMG a Nkemdiche sighting and he actually made a play.

either Bettchers zone concepts are easily dismantled, or, current Cardinal players just arent very good in zone. probably both

watching Seattle as an example -- they may give up a shallow cross reception, but the player catching that pass rarely runs for much more ( yes, Wagner and Wright have something to do with that) --

watching the Cards --seems shallow crosses vs zone have acres of space

I think it's simply that the players are sitting in their zones and are not fluid. Seahawk players would have the same result if they appeared to play so far off and did not rove within that zone. I recall one play with Bethea and through the year with Honey Badger that they are ten yards off the play as if they are stuck at the far boundary of the zone and do not know that there is another boundary they are responsible for on the other border of their space. Once cannot stop a play waiting to react when the catch is made and you are still ten yards off. A lot of those 'broken' plays are not broken but simply the guy not playing zone right and those soft zones are really just zone not being played properly in my opinion

Why? Because he has been a below average starter for them? I have watched him when the Cowboys are on, Cooper looks like the guy that he has been throughout his career.

Yeah. Cooper is what he is. Dallas isn't playing him because we won a starting job. He is an injury replacement. His play is better when he is between an All Pro LT and an All Pro C. That is the case for most guys.
