If we had run the ball 100 times and lost today, I could have soundly lived with that result.

What I cannot stand (and therefore shut the game off after the 1st quarter) - is putting the game on the shoulders of Colt McCoy right out the gate.

If we ran the damn ball and didn't pin our own defense back, there was a chance today. Old shades of Kliff were on display today... tremendously disappointed.

I don’t and never will understand going for it on 4th and 2 just one score down in the 1st quarter from our own 45. Not to mention the lame ass attempt of McCoy’s Qb sneak.

The Cowboys went on 4 th down last week on their first 2 possessions and failed. They were dead in the water after that.

Turning point of the game IMO

This. There was no way we could recover from that stupid call. That was just bush league coaching.

Yeah, I really disliked that call Slan. Big time.

I also didn't like giving it to Eno on the 3rd and 1 right before that play. If the Cardinals weren't using Conner on that 3rd and 1, then I'm really not sure how serious they were about winning that game.

Hero is obviously #34, Jalen Thompson.

Honorable mention will be Christian Kirk, who had seven for 58 today. No drops, made some tough catches.

Goat will be Hicks for me. We gave up 160+ on the ground, and he's the leader of our front seven. Buck stops with him.

Honorable mention will be Chandler Jo.. no wait... Colt McCoy. The first TO was tough, but he held on to the ball too long probably. 2nd TO was ass, and exactly what back up QBs are paid not to do. Still glad we have him on the team though. He tried his best I'm sure.

If our D, could tackle, cover or block we could have been a contender after that haha I don’t think it’s a wake up call, both Green Bay and panthers came out hard, that is the formula. anybody that went, were the stands full to start the game ? Last 2 panthers games I went to amazed me that cards fans never found their seats until panthers had a 2 score lead in the first quarter, not the reason we lost 6 in a row to panthers, but no reason why fans can’t get their game on in time either.

I do think you're right that teams have the blue print to beat us. At least to beat our defense.

The strengths of our defense are:

1. Corner play
2. Safety play
3. Pass rush.

So don't throw against us like the stupid 49ers did. Instead, attack our worst weakness, which by a mile is our LB play against the run. We need Budda Baker in the box, and we all better be praying that JJ gets healthy, because Hicks, Jones and Golden aren't suddenly going to become good against the run anytime soon.

I was so disgusted with the game’s play calling by our coaches, that, for my own health, I quit watching the Cards game after McCoy threw the interception. I watched some Seahawks and Packers, and went outside and did some things in the garage.

That’s hard to say with the top run games we’ve stopped, it’s part scheme, but a lot of it is effort. Again it’s like we can do one or the other, but not both?

It’s 1 game. A horrible one but every good team has had one except us till now. I mean Green Bay lost by 28 opening day. Dallas got drilled. The Bills have lost a few and so has Tampa Bay. No
One here thought we were going 15-2 anyway. Let’s go 13-4 14-3 and get 1st or 2nd seed. But the key is having everyone healthy playoff time. Kyler is a top 3 QB. We don’t lose this game with Kyler or D Hop. We need them next week. We need to win that and go 9-2 into the bye and rest up. Then come out for our last 6 against some bad teams except for 2.

You're 1000% correct we stopped D Henry and CLE run game too. But my theory is that the Cardinals are especially susceptible to cut back runners like Cook and McCaffery. They have less trouble with bigger backs like D Henry.

MIN, GB and now CAR all lit us up with the run game. Weirdly, I don't think SF really tried to run against us.

If I'm a DC, I'm staying away from Murphy/Thompson/Baker and Alford, and instead going after Hicks and Co. Maybe go at Marco Wilson a little. Aren't you?

BTW, @THESMEL, if you want to watch a game that I think you would really like, check out the replay of yesterday's Oklahoma vs. Baylor game.

BU ran the ball 41 times for 300 yards or something. Just pounded away at a game OU defense until the point where midway through the 4th Q, the OU defense was gassed and hobbling, and could offer little resistance. It was quite a spectacle.

Even if we make the first down it’s not like it’s a epic change of momentum. All it gets you at that point is a new set of downs.
