Knicks Sign DerMarr Johnson to 10-Day Contract
NEW YORK, February 3, 2004 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that forward DerMarr Johnson has been signed to a 10-day contract and guard Allan Houston has been placed on the Injured List with a left patella chondromalacia.
Johnson, 6-9, 201-pounds, has been signed to a 10-day contract. The three-year NBA veteran was averaging 22.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in 19 games for the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Association. In 150 career games over the past three NBA seasons, the University of Cincinnati-alum averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks.
Houston, 6-6, 205-pounds, was placed on the Injured List with a sore right knee. The 10-year NBA veteran is averaging a team-leading 19.5 points in 41 starts, and is 10th in the NBA in three-point shooting (.423). He has missed the last two games due to the injury and eight games total this season.
The active roster stands at 12, with two on the Injured List.
