Kliff to Dallas?

I think...

I think I like that idea. :)
Cowboys fans would be over the moon. The rumor is that promoting OC Brian Schottenheimer to head coach is basically a done deal. Their fanbase is distraught.

Kliff will be in no hurry to get another head coaching job. He is making $6 million per year with the Commanders through 2027 and an additional $7.5 million per year from the Cardinals through 2027. Great job/pay if you can get it.
Yep. Can't blame Kliff for Mikey's stupidity. He's found a good niche for at least another year, then he can decide if he wants to get back in as a HC somewhere.

Crazy amount of cash for what he is doing.

Plus there is zero rush to move on from a successful team. He knows what headaches he will have dealing with a crap situation. He is the toast of the town in DC. I wouldn't go anywhere till after 2027.

I think he stays as an offensive coordinator for the rest of his career. By his choice.

It's really for the best if you want less responsibilities and get to call the plays. Too many times, these guys go from Coordinator up to Head Coach and not only do they have added responsibilities, but they also still want to call the plays which ruffles feathers with whoever has the title of OC or DC at the time. Instead, just own what you're good at handling, make money, get courted by other teams, stay, and continue to have success and make more money.

Wouldn't az only be paying him 1.5 million? I would assume he had offset language in his contract.

I haven't seen anything documented, but this sounds backwards to me.

There would surely be offset language, with Bidwill only paying the difference between the salary in his terminated Cardinals sl contract and his O.C. salary with the Commanders.

And I suspect his O.C. salary with the Commanders is $1.5M, while his former H.C. salary was $6M. So he's still making $6M total, with the Commanders paying $1.5M and the Cardinals paying $4.5M.

If you've seen concrete evidence to the contrary, I'd like to see it and will stand corrected.

We gave him a fully guaranteed contract for 5 years at $7.5 million annually. When we ditched him, we are still on the hook for that full contract, and he makes the same from us, but it is now paid in the form of severance. Then he went to Washington where they gave him a 3-year $18-million contract - completely separate from the compensation he gets from the Cardinals.

Apparently, Kliff Kingsbury is so nice, he is being paid twice. Arizona gave Kingsbury an extension in 2022, a guaranteed contract for five years that pays $7.5 million annually. Unless Arizona decides to buy out Kingsbury's contract, the Commanders' OC will receive severance pay by the Cardinals until 2027.

Kingsbury signed a three-year, $18 million contract with the Commanders in 2024.

That article was written by a senior in college who is an editorial intern at The Sporting News. I'm sure he has never seen Kliff's contract, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. It goes against everything I have read about NFL coach's contracts. Since none of us have seen his contract, it is all speculation. NOTE: The average salary of an OC in the NFL is 1 million. This guy says Washington is paying Kliff 6 million a year. That is so inaccurate it is not even funny,

He's still getting paid by the Cards for a couple more years and he has a great situation at the moment

Meh. Obviously the Daniels kid makes Kliff right a lot even when he's wrong.

But if you said KK has the imagination and now the experience to be effective in a pure OC role, it would be hard to argue. Sustained success is another story, but at least he has the opportunity to demonstrate this.

And I hate to say it, but future NFL MVP Kyler Murray telling Kingsbury to "Calm the **** down" has not aged particularly well.

If the Bears had called, he'd have listened. Maybe even the Raiders since Sanders seems likely to land there.

Especially for Kyler. Kliff made him what he was. Kyler is the problem.

Probably the safest and smartest thing to do but he'll probably get the itch at some point and put his name in the hat for a HC.

What is Kyler become since Kliff? An average QB? Not a #1 pick
Would be a real interesting to hear his thoughts on the two QB's and why he thinks Kyler has not succeeded. It pay to listen to that interview.

He would never throw Kyler, or any other player, under the bus publicly.
