Hi, Dallasdude!

I'm assuming you're a Mavs fan? I'm a Suns fan myself, but I've really enjoyed watching some of these Mavericks games after the Kidd trade. He's got that team running and pushing the ball again, and it's really fun to watch! How do you feel about the state of the Mavs right now? Does Cuban look like a genius now or what? :p

hi beebeard, thx for the welcome.

i wouldnt say the state of the mavs is great right now, but its not really bad either, kinda just lukewarm. to be honest im not sure we have it anymore like we once did. the finals in 06 seemed to have some lasting effects on this team. in order to keep from looking like we are whining about it, we (me) try not to claim we was robbed, but after last year, im sure you know where im coming from because you guys got ripped good by stern in the spurs series. (spurs fans are the smuggest bunch ive ever seen. its almost comical to hear the way they justify that whole horry/ nash t-bone wreck and its effects on that series)

anyway, i just thought i would check in and maybe post from time to time. i have felt for some time that if the mavs cant do it, then my next pick would be the suns, even though we have had our differences, its hard not to root for a team that so closely matches the history of ours, so phx is my number 2.

thx again for the welcome.

I think there is a mutual respect b/w suns and mavs fans. We are both in a "funk" right now and now both have the same record in the west (39-20). I really like Dallas' play, and definately would root for them if they make the finals again. You guys should have won it in '06.

thx hat, and ditto. we both have such entertaining teams, and im sick of seeing the most boring team in the nba awarded trophies.

hint for above riddle: hardware for heels.

If you're trying to capture the sentiment of most Suns fans right now, you misspelled "funk." Rotate the third letter 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Welcome aboard, newbies buy.

Personally, I'll take a win. That's not too much to ask for, is it?

what's up dallasdude. most if not all of these suns fans are pretty cool I wouldn't go as far as to say the mavs and suns have a friendly rivalry. but sure there are a lot of similarities....passionate fans....no titles...playoff failures...nash...finley....kidd....ect. I would cheer for the suns over SA or LA that's for sure. I also like nash still eventhough it was really hard to see him knock the mavs out of couple of years ago. I feel bad for nash still when he loses in the playoffs because he's a player I've always liked. you are right about spurs fans though. although suns and mavs fans whine a lot as well. You have to remember if you don't include the DALLAS cowboys the spurs are a one team town. so they get a little carried away sometimes. the lakers fans act like a one team town too LOL.

going back to the 06 finals. a lot of mavs fans have whined about the refs. I think there was one call that was highly questionable. that allowed Dwade to tie the game and win it at the FT line with about 2 secs left. of course this was when josh howard had that timeout debacle. to this day he claims he was asking avery if he wanted a TO. many forget stack was also suspended for that game for a hard foul he committed on shaq that was very questionable. should of been no more than a flagrant. However, despite all of this the mavs still lost to a team that finished and played better down the stretch. after that game 3 and game 5 meltdown where the mavs had games they should of won.....they still lost other opportunities that were there for the taking. the heat were better and don't get the credit they deserve. remember a year prior they were in a seventh game against detroit in the ECF playing without Dwade....imagine if he were healthy that year.

as far as this years mavs....I was very disappointed to see harris go. but I think the mavs are better with kidd. He is still amazing to watch and he has to score more points because they are there for the taking. I don't know how well they can play vs. the top WC teams. based on what I saw vs. SA the other night there is no evidence that shows they are a much better team than dallas. dallas has always played them well and still look as if they can beat SA.

the most glaring problem with the mavs is their road record. they are great at home almost unbeatable with impressive wins over top caliber teams.......but they are under .500 on the road and the only good road wins that I can recall is houston, GS, and orlando. they've lost on the road to teams that they should beat. and to those who are considered title contenders. they've lost against SA, NO,utah, boston, detroit, and phoenix. they play the LA today and if history repeats itself they should lose. if the mavs want to take the next step they have to get some road wins together.

I hope at least one of our teams finds a way to get through this bs and topple the lakers and/or spurs.

Suns fans might dislike Mark Cuban but he has put one hell of a lot of money into that mavs team to go the extra distance (can't say the same for sarver).

I have been watching more mavs games and NOH games lately (since it really is rooting for the underdog with Lakers/Spurs out there), mostly because I cannot torture myself through these recent deplorable suns games.

I would love to have a miracle happen and it is a Suns vs Dallas WCF, no way would I want suns vs NOH since they would probably sweep us.
