Lancaster 5, Hilliard Bradley 2: The Lady Gales opened the season with a non-conference win over the Jaguars. Ashlin Mowery picked up the win in the circle, giving up two hits and striking out 11. Lancaster finished with 10 hits.
Millersport 20, Liberty Christian 0: The Lakers improved to 3-0 after their nonconference win. Kendyl Bonkowski started the game and pitched two innings giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, striking out 5 and walking none. Gracie O'Neal earned her first varsity win, pitching three innings allowing two hits and three runs (one earned), while striking out five and walking one.
The Lady Lakers tallied 16 hits. Emma Raver drove in seven runs on four hits, with a home run. Ava Blevins collected four hits with two RBI, Claire Haney added three hits and four RBI, Bailey Betz had two hits and two RBI, and Adalee Martin added two RBI.
Nelsonville-York 10, Berne Union 8: The Rockets finished with 11 hits, but it wasn’t enough in their nonconference loss to the Buckeyes.
Kori Hoplite led the way for the Rockets as she went 4-for-4, including a double, home run and three RBI. Rylee North added two hits, including a triple, two RBI and two runs, and Aleah Smiley had a double and two RBI. Reese Besco took the loss in the circle.
Fairfield Christian Academy sweeps DH: The Knights started the season with two wins in Cincinnati against Clark Montessori.
In Game 1, a 16-5 victory, Addie McNamee picked up the win in the circle and Skylar Smith had two hits and six RBI to lead the way, while Ruby King, McKyiah Harrison, Katy Smeltzer and McNamee all added hits.
In a 16-6 Game 2 win, Abby Heisner had a big game getting the win inside the circle and recording three hits and three RBI. Katy Smeltzer had three hits and three RBI, Ruby King and Tannah Knight had two hits, while Claire Young, Skyler Smith and Kailyn Johnson all had hits.
Millersport takes two: The Lakers picked up a pair of wins by topping Madison Christian 10-0 and 12-11.
In Game 1, Kendyl Bonkowski pitched six innings, striking out 11 and only giving up one hit. Offensively, the Lakers had 12 hits. Emma Raver led the Lakers going 3 for 4, Gracie O'Neal, Ava Blevins and Bonkowski each had multiple hits. Scarlet Sheets and Bonkowski each had three RBI, Adalee Martin had two, and Kira Squires had one.
In Game 2, the Lady Lakers overcame an 11-5 deficit before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the victory. The Lakers had 10 hits. Emma Raver led the Lakers going 3 for 4, and Ava Blevins and Kendyl Bonkowski each had multiple hits. Adalee Martin had four RBI, Claire Haney and Raver each had two, Blevins, Sheets and Bailey Betz each added one.Gracie O'Neal started in the circle for the Lakers pitching three innings allowing five hits and two strikeouts. Kendyl Bonkowski got the win, allowing two hits while striking out 10.
Fisher Catholic drops a pair: The Irish were swept in a doubleheader, falling 10-0 and 7-3 against Crooksville. Lauren Kersell took the loss in Game 1, and Lucy Watkins and Vanessa Funk led the hitting with one hit each. Game 2, Kersell suffered the loss. Mallory Stanton led the Irish with two hits, one of which was a home run in the fifth inning.
Berne Union swept in DH: The Rockets lost a pair of nonconference games, falling 18-6 against Hartley and 15-5 against Bexley.
Against Hartley, the Rockets finished with six hits, led by Rylee North and Karlee Morgan, who had one hit and two RBI each, and Aleah Smiley had a double.
Against Bexley, the Rockets finished with 15 hits but committed four errors. Karlee Morgan had three hits, including two triples, a double and two RBI. Rylee North went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI and Reese Besco was 2 for 2 with a double, triple and scored three runs. Aleah Smiley had two hits, a double and two RBI, and Josilyn Hedges had two hits, including a double.
