(hypothetical)

Now that I can take Lebeeeatch's advice and get back to my pathetic little life, I thought this question could be a cool one in here. Some are talking about who they would build a team around, and what positions are more important to have as your "Star" player, your go to guy, your future.

The question I'm presenting is who would you take tomorrow to start a team with while expecting all the other "Star" players to be gone with by your second pick? I mean one guy.

I'm taking into consideration the player's ages, their mental ages, ability to play with others, ability to get the ball, injuries, talent level, defensive impact, leadership qualities, off the court stuff, how they handle pressure, desire...now I'm reaching.

Three guys stick out to me.
Rose
Durant
Howard

Howard is so obviously the 2nd best player after James.
That so wasn't the question, but you so already knew that. :)

EDIT: My bad, you mean Lebron would be the guy to take tomorrow and build a team around, with Howard being the next best guy to build around, my bad. (I thought you were just naming who you thought were the best players in the league)

I'd take Durant. Just saying that makes me feel for Sonics fans.

But obviously any of these guys would be amazing.

If Miami had Howard instead of James they would be NBA champs today.

I'd build my team around Howard.

OR, people would be upset that they'd wasted their money chasing after Bosh and Howard when anyone should have known they wouldn't blend together and that, as a duo, they'd significantly reduce Wade's opportunities to drive the lane.

I really don't know how it would have played out but I'll say this again. RARELY do you throw a team together and have them jell their first season. Calling this Heat team a failure seems premature to me. Yes, the Celtics added 2 key guys (plus a key rookie) and turned it into an immediate success but that's more an aberration than the norm.

Who knows? It's all hypothetical anyway because Howard was not available. Perhaps if Miami had Howard and Wade they could have added more quality depth instead of signing Bosh. I'm just sort of looking at it from the perspective of Shaq and Kobe. I think Dallas did it the right way.

I'd go with D-Rose, followed by Howard.

Both seem to be good character guys and obviously talented. Rose's work ethic is evident in his improvement from season to season. Ideally, I'd like to have both. :) Here's hoping the Bulls somewhat stun the Lakers and pull off a trade that will pair Howard and Rose.
