Move Shea to first and put Counsell at third and Cintron at short.

This part of Shea is just as advertised. But I don't see it as mere inexperience at the position anymore, which was the excuse given during the trade. He does just seem ham-handed, doesn't he?

Hey - What about that Tracy kid....LOL

How quickly some forget the virtues of a Matt Williams glove at third.

Most of you are so spoiled by the Dbacks success, it's not even funny.

Hillebrand will be fine. His defense will get better.

But, you better be able to live with the young players mistakes.

Matt's defense was declining lately, while he was still solid he was not a gold glover anymore. 3rd base is not an easy position, and we have been spoiled with great defense at that position. Hillenbrand will be adequate, but remember he's not here for his glove.

Shea Hillenbrand isn't that young--this is likely going to be as good as it gets. In his defense the BOB sod is rough because it's tough to grow grass indoors in a desert (take the tour and/or a close look).

Even though Matt Williams was losing it this year on defense--letting balls go under his glove, making bad throws (for him) starting DP's, it just is a reminder about appreciating what you have.

Two further comments:

1) Steve Finley is starting to get ragged around the edges on defense--this is known as aging or being human.

2) We really ought to enjoy what we have in Randy & Curt--when they're on, they're amazing/historic.

Hillenbrand should be moved to firstbase on a permanent basis. He makes to many throwing errors at third. That was his MO for the Redsox also. Either Counsell or Tracy should play third.

1B is Shea's natural position. If Lyle Overbay were not so disappointing with RISP, we'd absorb Shea's defensive shortcomings at 3B.

But, with Overbay having been given a chance, this should be a no-brainer!

Hillenbrand at 1B; Counsell at 3B.

Counsell needs a day off more. He is 0-21 and has been hitting too many flyballs.

Even the DH has to be able to make sure a fly ball hits the ground before he takes off.

They showed the re-play again on the news....the funny thing is the look of utter surprise on the look of the out fielder as he throws the ball back into first for the double play.
