At first I was totally against drafting Murray. But right now I'm at peace with whichever decision we make, including drafting Murray 1st overall. When you look at the pitiful history of the QB position since the franchise moved to Arizona, you couldn't fault Keim for taking a QB each and every year in the 1st round. In all those years, only Fitz and PP were home runs in the 1st round. That's less than one home run per decade! Other than the high risk picks that didn't pan out, think of the many "safe" selections we made that flamed out for us. Taking the "safe" bet in Bosa or Quinnen doesn't guarantee us a star player by any means.

As for the QB position in all those years in Arizona, other than a couple of seasons out of each Warner and Palmer in the late stages of their careers, the QB position has neither been stable nor successful. Plummer was quite exciting, but don't forget he threw more INTs than TDs with a completion % in the mid 50s. And that's about it in the last 30 years.

I don't even demand a championship, although that would be nice obviously. But what I want is having a legit franchise QB for a decade or even longer. Someone who makes you competitive in most games, most seasons. Of course you can still fall short with bad defensive play, bad run game or lack of protection. But ultimately it's a franchise QB who gives you a legit fighting chance week in and week out.

You are wrong about the 1st round home runs....not just Fitz and PP....

Eric Hill
Eric Swann
Garrison Hearst
Jamir Miller
Simeon Rice
Thomas Jones
DRC
Antrel Rolle

From a pure talent standpoint they were all home runs....now some achieved greater success with other teams, or had devestating injuries, but there is no denying their draft status was deserved.

Like all teams, the Cardinals have had periods of draft success and failure.

Talent evaluation is quite easy. Nkemdiche has all the talent in the world. Keim himself said that you are hardly ever missing on the player, but on the person. Character, work ethic, injury history have to be accounted for and your list shows very talented 1st round player that made some sort of impact for us. However, none of them were true star players, just good players who made the Pro Bowl maybe a few times, which lead to them leaving Arizona most of the time anyway.
