Off topic a bit but I never understood why such a big deal was made of Vanilla Ice's real name being Robbie Van Winkle? Name me one big name rapper in his era or today who uses his own name? I always thought that was a double standard used by black rappers to criticize him, unless MC Hammer and Kool Moe Dee were in fact their real names.
Criticize his lack of rapping skill no problem but I never understood the criticism of his name.
I agree he did act ashamed. We watched I think 2 episodes of Surreal Life his year, in one he was saying he would never ever perform that song, and in another he was doing it at a Karaoke bar with all his castmates, admittedly after much prodding from them. I really got the impression that he was on that show to jumpstart his career and the entire "I will never do that again" thing was an act so he could claim he came back because the public wanted him.
I felt he should have been DQ'd last night he didn't sing Destiny's Child Survivor he sang his own Survivor. He completely shot the integrity of the show......
Where do they get these people in the crowd, they act like they're at the best concert they've ever seen.
