coming soon - to the FOX Network! Yes folks - one step closer to the dream - my boss's pilot just got picked up by the suits at FOX after an agonizing TWO months of re-writes and waiting - today we got the news - which means . . . the Cheese's ideas and thoughts will slowly be permeating all of America - in the guise of a trashy-Spelling-esque dramedy set in the world of Las Vegas Wedding Chapels - we'll find out soon, exactly what position I have on the show - likely starting as Head Write's Asst., but possibly - added to the Writing Staff depending on how much control my boss gets and who the showrunner will be that they bring in.

Just wanted to share with all of you - been AWOL for a while - lots of stuff cooking on the old burner right now and this is the first Domino to fall.

Happy Day for all!

All hail, the Cheese. I'll watch for the hidden rhubarb references.

Congratulations. I have a couple friends who are doing the whole 'struggling writer' thing so it's nice to see somebody (especially a Cards fan) get a big break.

PS - Hang around more. Us realists are going to need you as an ally once Denny starts cutting all of Mac's acquired crap this offseason.

cheese's update from another thread:

The pilot got picked up and we're going into production mid-March as we continue to rewrite and cast the sucker. Sorry Pariah - no Cardinal fans in the first episode - but there may be ways yet to sneak one in if the show actually gets picked up and gets on the air (it's all really complicated - just because a pilot is picked up, doens't mean the show will ever see the airwaves - about 3 of 9 pilots make it - the other six are dumped in the trash - literally.)

Things are good pretty much everywhere - features wise - this last week I had my first meal paid for by an executive(on Fat Albert and Garfield - insert bad movie joke here) who's interested in a script I'm currently re-writing.

It's AMAZING how productive one can be when they don't visit this place - unfortunately, after a full month's break - not even coming to the site - I am finding myself back here more than I like - DAMN THIS ASFN ADDICTION!

UPDATE:

So we're in the middle of casting right now and so far the two lead roles for the brother and sister are set: Marc-Paul Gosselaar as Michael (really cool guy - very down to Earth) and Leslie Bibb (who is just going to blow up on this show). So psyched! Recognizable but not ULTRA HUGE names that would have brought a Walmart quality to the show that would have quite frankly - killed it.

Shooting starts two weeks from today in Sin City Las Vegas!

Oh - and the name is being changed - cross your fingers for me - Right now - everyone at Spelling likes the name I offered the most: UNVEILED - but the people at the Network haven't said anything yet.

UPDATE UPDATE:

"Unveiled" and "Hitched" are the final two name choices - personally, Hitched sounds more like a sitcom to me than a Nip/Tuck like drama(which our show is). Cross your fingers for me.

Nice, you have to have Mark Paul go by Zack on the show though, and have cameos with Mr. Belding.... :D

Speaking of MPG, wasn't it hilarious seeing him swear and taking bong rips in the one movie? It was just so strange after watching him all those years on Saved by the Bell....

GREAT Movie! One of my votes for "most underrated comedy ever!"

Congratulations, Cheese! Does this mean that those of us who have copies of Down & Out 2 can get them autographed and on ebay! (just kidding about that last part)

I will do so. Maybe by the next Cards game we'll have some more stories to tell.

I'm (finally) done with the last one I did. Our sound guys kept screwing up our mix. I have a link in my signature - check out the trailer.

Not really a strange sight for me. I knew that guy was trouble when he got hammered at Lisa's 16th Birthday Party and drunkenly crashed her Mom's Benz.

Update:

UNTITLED JEFFREY LIEBER PROJECT (FOX) - Dagmara Dominczyk ("Kinsey") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about a brother (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and sister (Leslie Bibb) who manage a wedding emporium in Las Vegas. No details were released about Dominczyk's chracter. Thomas Carter is directing the Spelling Television-based pilot from a script by creator Jeffrey Lieber. Lieber then is executive producing alongside Warren Littlefield, Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent.

nice work there BIM. All three of them are actually REALLY down to Earth people. Spent most of Friday putzing around with MPG and Leslie and actually had to sit in with them for the table read for the FOX exec's because some of the male actors didn't show up.

We start production on Monday morning so I'll probably be a ghost around here for about 3 weeks - cross your fingers for us folks - it's gonna be a wild and bumpy ride - it always is. We should know by May if the show makes it to the Network next fall, where in that case, I may have an even bigger job!
