That is WAY too much for a player you'd be lucky to get 6-10 games out of a season.

Screw Holiday!

sometimes we HAVE to do more than we should to get some wins in here...

Like it or not he IS the best DE available in FA. I think it is a very good offer...

If we sign him I would STILL want to see SUGGS in here...

This team will never be anygood if we dont improve that D-line.

I would be extremely excited to see a 3rd and long with a lineup of SUGGS, HOLLIDAY, BRYANT, VANDENBOCH!!! (Holliday can play DE or DT)

Add the new speedy saftey and our fast outside LB's in Thompson & Fisher and were a dangerous team...

We overpaid Sanders and Jake plummer for years it wont hurt us to over pay Holliday if it will help this team...

Considering he wanted 6 mil a year, good sign. He's not hurt THAT much. He's MUCH better than anybody else we have. I wouldn't go higher than 4 mil though.

Guys, we must avoid striking out on one of the top free agent DE's this year. Those were Colvin, Holliday and KGB. With the cap space we have, it's really unexcusable almost. We can't count on getting Suggs and we can't say, "Wait til next year."

Besides, he's worth it for OUR team at that price. Otherwise, we're stuck with hoping the 'fearsome' Wakefield and Johnson combo can improve on their 2.5 sacks from last year.

True, but I'm going to have to question Holliday's attitude. He inflated his worth and turned down $5 million per in GB and now it seems like he's using us for Leverage in seattle.

Seems like a prick to me.

I think like most players they want all they can get...

But I wouldnt say its a "prick" move.

I think he KNOWS he is the best DE available and he is takin advantage of it...

Yes. I have been saying that for years.

I always schedule that day off. Have, otherwise I'd have to call in sick.

You don't want to spend so much money that you cripple your football team for years to come; but, some of the people who post here talk money likes its coming out of their own pockets. Rod Graves is not going to break the bank on anyone. We need to concentrate on whether Holliday will make us a better football team. Not how much cap money will he cost us in 2005. I think Holliday instantly makes the Cardinal DL much better.

Look, it's always the bonus that's the most important on these deals. If it's true that we're offering 4 up front, then it's not that big of a deal. He'll get at least two years. If he sucks, or is constantly hurt, then he can be cut for only a 1mil cap hit each of the next two years if he's cut after June 1. With the amount of dead money we've had the last few years, that sounds like chump change. But, it's really hard for me to see how he can't improve maybe the most pathetic pass rush in the history of the NFL the past two years.

I view the signing of Emmitt as making us moderately successful in free agency. If we can bring in Holliday to help our team, we will have been very successful in free agency. And if (by some lucky act by the Football Gods) we were to sign a go-to wide receiver, we will have been extremely successful in free agency.

AND - if we were to somehow find a way to trade up to get Suggs without giving up too much - so that we'd still wind up with a CB at the Sammy Davis level or better - we will have had a sensational off season.

Someone bet that KVB would get more sacks than Holliday if we were to sign him. Its not so much whether or not KVB would get more sacks, its that Holliday and KVB would get more than the DE's of last season. It would be a great signing. We could still draft Peek in the second rd. But it would allow us to look around a little in the first rd. If we sign Zero FA DE's, we have to draft DL with our first pick. Even if Suggs is already gone.

Most likely the Cards are holding off for the draft. IF they get Suggs @6 then they might not want to persue Holliday so strongly and he will lose his ability to make the Cards pay more for him and we could get him with a smaller contract.

you mean seattle will get him with a smaller contract...

Sorry but I want Holliday, Suggs is only a dream right now, we have no idea what will happen...

If we sign holliday or not I would still go SUGGS in the draft...
(holliday can play DT also)

I've got a feeling that in the end we will be the ones to snag Holliday.

We have offered more money than any other team, and it's not that he doesn't want to play, just that we haven't offered as much as he wants.

I think he is really kicking himself for not taking the GB offer last year, and is even more ticked that there wasn't a big surge in offers after Douglas signed.

I'm confident in this one, and even if he had some doubt about the team before, that hopefully some of those have been quelled with recent signings.

Latest buzz relayed yesterday by Jurecki was that it wasn't that Holliday "didn't want to come here", but rather that he still wasn't getting the money he wanted and was trying to exhaust all other options (including KC) before he made a decision.

Actually my hope on Holliday is he continues to screw around trying to get $5 million, and that Suggs is there at #6 and we snag him, then Seattle takes McDougle and next thing you know Holliday gets a max offer from the cards of about $2 mil a year and thats the best offer he can find!!! :D

That sort of scenario is exactly why he can't wait that late. He'll sign within a week.
