If you were up early Wednesday morning watching MLB's Tokyo Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs, your tired eyes might have spotted someone who sure looked like former NFL star Rodney Peete snatching a foul ball away from Max Muncy.
No, the sleep deprivation wasn't playing tricks on you. That really was Peete and his wife, Holly Robinson Peete sitting along the third base line at the Tokyo Dome. Their son, Rodney Peete Jr. has been a clubhouse attendant with the Dodgers for a decade now, and his family made the trip overseas to support him and the team in the season-opener.
That partially explains the unusual celebrity sighting. The reason why Peete made a play for the foul ball, however, is because it was headed straight for his wife.
Holly Robinson Peete took to instagram afterwards and hilariously apologized to Muncy for Rodney making the play — while also reminding the Dodgers star that her husband was a third baseman who was "thrice drafted" by MLB teams.
Considering the Dodgers finished off a sweep of the Cubs with a 6-3 victory, we can assume all was forgiven. But the conversation between Muncy and Peete Jr. after the play must've been something else. Hopefully someone had Muncy mic'd up.
