I don't know about gaping holes. We have Haggans and two or three potential guys in Brown, Davis, and Baggs. You can't get every guy that becomes available, and you have to trust your scouting department.

If it's between Kamerion Wembley and our second or Joey Porter and money, I'm going to take Joey Porter and money, plus the draft pick. Porter's better than Wembley, anyway.

Thanks I wasn't aware the Cards couldn't get every player available until you pointed that out to me like I'm a six year old.

You wouldn't classify that there are gaping holes at the OLB spot when all the Cards have right now Haggans who I love but is 33, a sixth round pick with 19 tackles and last years second round pick who missed all of last year due to injury?

Also I don't understand the fascination with Joey Porter. I really don't, yes he's good and I'll be happy if the Cards get him, but he can also be a liability. He runs his mouth way too much. He is the defensive Ochocinco.

If I had my choice between using a late second round pick on one of the better young LB's in the game or spend huge money on an older LB who loves to talk crap and give other teams bulletin board material, I'd take the younger guy.

I guess we just disagree on the scout of the guy, then. I look at Joey Porter and I see a guy who can combine with ADub and DDockett to provide an attitude to the defense that left with Karlos Dansby (who was also a team captain) along with the 39 total sacks he's had the last three seasons.

I look at Kamerion Wimbley and I see a guy who has 10 fewer sacks in the past four years and wasn't seen as a piece worth keeping on a terrible team even though he's just entering the prime of his career. I see a guy who hasn't had more than 7 sacks in a season since his rookie year.

I could name 10 LBs under 27 who are more promising than Kamerion Wimbley. Before he was traded, would you really have said that he was "one of the better young LBs in the game"? Really? Do you watch a lot of Browns games?

I don't see the same gaping holes at OLB that I do at ILB. I don't see any holes at OLB if we bring Joey Porter in. We have two established starters and a handful of guys that the scouting department believes can contribute. Sometimes you have to trust your scouts.

I would say he is one of the better young LB's yes. He is not the best but he good. Yes I have seen the Browns play and Wimbley and from the games I have seen he played well and hustled. I could also name 10 more promising LB's under 27, but how many were/are available.

I would agree that if we get Porter the OLB position would not be as in bad of shape as ILB, but it is still a concern. I love that the Cards are adding depth through FA and drafting talent, that will pay off huge down the road.

We will agree to disagree I guess, this is all hypothetical anyway I have full confidence on how this team is being run. This thread was more in that what if department. Obviously whoever the Cards were intrested for wasn't worth it and I am fine with that.

That must be why coaches in the AFC North were texting Schefter saying how happy they were he is out of their division last night.
Yes, because they were just pulling their hair out trying to gameplan for Wimbley and his vicious shoulder dip that nets him five sacks a year. :mulli:

Wimbley should produce more with his hand on the ground, but I doubt he becomes a multiple PBer.

Didn't joeschmo say something about the Cardinals making a trade for a Browns linebacker a while back? Maybe Wimbley was that guy.

I'd have pushed the envelope to get him here...our 3rd Plus....a little something to make it happen.

You've forgotten Stevie Baggs; though who knows what to expect from him.
