7.5 sacks the entire month of November, has been the catalyst for the Houston turnaround.

Not sure how a defensive back who is a liability in coverage was named DPOM.

must have just been quiet prior to that

on pace for 20 sacks....dudes at NFL net say if he gets it he will own 25% of all 20 sack seasons since the stat was counted

edit: By the way...he may be the only player I would be willing to trade 2 firsts plus a little to get.

Your obsession with me is flattering, but disconcerting at the same time.

But then he thinks letting go of Jim Dray was a mistake & he can actually play. :D lol

Badger is a darn good player, but sometimes his size does limit his ability to be a superstar IMO

Pro Football Focus has him as the number 2 corner in the league just behind Josh Norman. They have him statistically being above average in coverage. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/12/02/pro-tyrann-mathieu-cb-s-or-db-dpoy/

The article compared/contrasted him with Josh Norman, indicating that Norman is a coverage specialist (which he is) and Badger as a do-it-all type of player. I disagree with the notion that he's an above average coverage guy. He has been on the wrong end of many TD passes and is often a step behind his assignment. Perhaps much of it has to do with his size disadvantage, but it remains the same that he needs to find ways to compensate for that in the coverage game.

Either way, Badger is phenomenal and deserving of the DPOM award.

You don't have to be perfect to be an elite player, just have to have your niche and execute it to a high degree, which Honey Badger does.

Deion Sanders was the best cover corner in the history of the league, but was hot garbage when it came to tackling. It doesn't take away from his legacy, just an honest assessment about his game.

I am a huge Mathieu fan and he was nails against the niners last week. But let's not forget he's given up 5 or 6 TDs this year, usually being out of position and trying to rely on his speed to catch up.

He's constantly improving though, which is great to see, and he will get more and more of these awards the longer he can keep proving everyone wrong about his past and who he really is becoming.

I have seen the Badger defend more passes than let them get completed but I am not always right lol

It's true. However he may be a bit of a liability against TEs in the redzone, but that is 100% because of the size difference and nothing to do with the skill of TM.

Edit: I suppose I could also put that on the scheme that puts him up against 6'6" TEs around the endzone.

Great read, thanks for sharing.

I have to ask if you took advantage of the above link from don7031 because they highlight HB making two great plays against TE's in the red zone.

I don't recall how many TD's HB has given up and how many were to WR's/RB's/TE's but I'm fairly confident it's far better than the league avg.

Our LSU DB's are coming through for us big time this year. Both of them are killing it on the field and getting a bunch of national attention and are very likeable as well.

Congrats HB and keep it coming.

His price tag keeps rising.

Keim has been quoted that a priority of his is signing HB to a long term, big contract. I'm sure we will be ok. He does not want to leave here nor leave PP21.

How much loyalty does HB have/show for the Cards for giving him the chance to follow his dream and calling t be a star in the NFL? As you stated having Pat P here also helps. I don't want a huge home town discount but hopefully HB accepts a fair contract and doesn't go all Los on us.
