I am a huge Mathieu fan and he was nails against the niners last week. But let's not forget he's given up 5 or 6 TDs this year, usually being out of position and trying to rely on his speed to catch up.

He's constantly improving though, which is great to see, and he will get more and more of these awards the longer he can keep proving everyone wrong about his past and who he really is becoming.

Care to provide some specific examples of this? The Cards have only given up 17 passing TDs on the season, so you're saying that 1/3 of those are the fault of Mathieu, and usually because he's out of position.

Thanks in advance.

Listening to Somers and MJ's podcast this morning, they were raving about Honey Badger, but Somers inserted the caveat that he needs to stop giving up so many TD passes (6-7 on the year is what he referenced).

BTW--if you all have a free moment, go on Badger's Twitter timeline and check out the article he retweeted from 2013 that said teams shouldn't waste a draft pick on him.

Swing and a miss.

K9, you know your football and I listen to what you have to say but when you go off on something like this and try to make Mathieu seem like some flawed player when the rest of the league, his coaches, his teammates and fans think the guy is great, it just makes me go whatever... Mathieu gets hurt, and this defense is in big trouble in my opinion because I do not need stats but the fact he is everywhere around a play on a team with a winning record and that is a stat that matters

I think that Tyrann is having a fantastic, All-Pro caliber season. TJ thinks that Mathieu is a "liability in coverage", and apparently so does vince and others.

The Cards have only given up 17 passing TDs, according to Pro Football Reference. Depending on how the rest of the afternoon shakes out, I'll see how many of those even involve Honey Badger.

I am willing to bet Powers is responsible for several more than HB.

I think he is average in coverage and not as much as a liability or our scores would reflect something totally different, I think the main concern is that Bucannon (the safety who one expects can cover, and yes I know about how much better the stats say the Cards are against TE, but I do not see him or our LBs doing the coverage worth a damn still) and our LBs all lack coverage skill and speed... and that effects everyone on the team playing defense and the assignments or even multiple assignments they end up with due to our LB group
