In fact, there weren't any problems with the contingency lists last year -- at least not in terms of whether they worked properly. There's the danger of getting two picks from the same list, as I explained at the beginning of this thread, but a careful manager can take steps to avoid that when it's a danger.
I guess we just have to encourage everyone to have their contingency lists updated constantly and to check the site whenever they can. Hopefully the only time contingency lists will be needed will be late at night.
If you follow the "Toys" link on the site, it gives you the top 20 players in the NBA by draft position, across all leagues on the site. (Obviously I mean all leagues that have already drafted, which we have not.) The list will presumably change somewhat as more leagues conduct their drafts.
It's dangerous to generalize from this list, because different scoring systems can result in different players being more or less valuable. But, whatever -- here's the current list, with the number following each player showing the average position in which he was drafted:
1. Tim Duncan (SAS) 4.17
2. Tracy McGrady (ORL) 4.68
3. Shaquille Oneal (LAL) 5.03
4. Kevin Garnett (MIN) 5.48
5. Dirk Nowitzki (DAL) 8.66
6. Kobe Bryant (LAL) 9.59
7. Allen Iverson (PHI) 11.03
8. Paul Pierce (BOS) 11.48
9. Jason Kidd (NJN) 11.70
10. Jermaine Oneal (IND) 13.17
11. Chris Webber (SAC) 13.94
12. Elton Brand (LAC) 16.30
13. Shawn Marion (PHO) 18.59
14. Ray Allen (SEA) 18.84
15. Steve Francis (HOU) 19.84
16. Vince Carter (TOR) 19.92
17. Ben Wallace (DET) 20.52
18. Stephon Marbury (PHO) 21.94
19. Pau Gasol (MEM) 25.13
20. Yao Ming (HOU) 25.56
The order for the entire draft is randomized at the instant the draft starts. There is no advance warning, unfortunately. It's also true that no one has access to his contingency list until the draft has started. For these reasons, it is quite important that everyone check into the site shortly after the draft begins.
And the whole order will be available immediately.
If you have the first pick in the first round, you have the last in the second round, the first in the third round, the last in the 4th round.
1 , 32, 33, 64, 65, 96, 97, 128, 129, 160, 161, 192

As explained earlier, this is incorrect. Your draft position in the third round has nothing to do with your draft position in the first round.
