If Toast plays lights out and leads the Texans to the Superbowl - or even a couple of playoff wins - we will now have some additional pressure on Bidwill to do SOMETHING - whether that is to get a real OC, a real GM, whatever - but Leinart being successful can only help the cause in getting Whiz to let go of the offensive reins or letting someone else handle the QB staffing decision.

Go Matty go!

I agree. The worst nightmare for the Cardinals FO and coaching staff is for Kolb and Skelton to not develop into anything and watch Leinart become a successful quarterback in Houston or wherever his future landing spot might be.

Either way, I hope Leinart does well in Houston.

Leinart can suck it. If the Texans continue to do well it will be in spite of him not because of him. He sucks!

The punk could of been the king of the world!

He decided not to be.

From what I've heard, he tried and failed. Whiz's offense was too much for him. Some are saying that Houston is the best fit Matt could have ever asked for. They favor heavy tight end sets, short, safe routes off play action - where Leinart excelled at USC. Whiz's offense needs a guy who can make multiple reads and throw the ball downfield, getting the ball out quick. Leinart was never comfortable with that. At least that's what the analysts say.

Should Whiz have changed the offense to fit Leinart's style? Possibly. But I wonder what kind of a ceiling that offense has when you have a crappy OL? We've seen with Warner that Whiz's offense has a high ceiling when placed in the right hands. (Possibly Big Ben too? not sure though) And don't forget that the safe offense relies on a good running game and a stout defense - two things the Cardinals have never had. With a crappy OL and a lack of toughness up front on offense and defense, a high risk high reward offense might be the best solution? Too bad Warner and Max Hall are the only guys who could figure it out so far.

So, if Leinart stinks at Houston, then that's probably for real. If he succeeds at doing what we asked of him in AZ, then boy did we screw up. But if he succeeds at managing the game with dinks and dunks, then the jury is still out. With a good OL and running game in Houston, his dinks might get decent yardage - maybe enough to win games. In AZ, his dinks get stifled for 1 yard a pop. Think back to that first 2010 preseason game. He passed for a high completion percentage, yet couldn't get a single first down. (Maybe 1?) When interviewed, Whiz was confounded. "So what would you like to see out of your offense?"… "A first down! Just a first down!"

So I don't know, until we can develop some toughness up front, we might be stuck in this cycle of always looking for someone to fill Warner's shoes. A guy who can actually read defenses. Imagine that!

Whiz's offense has been too much for every QB he's had.. and don't mention Warner.. Pretty sure he coached himself, and audibled out of more than half of what Whz sent in.

Kurt Warner single handedly made this team respectable for a few years, and also bought Graves and CKW a few more years to collect checks, that no other organization in the league would ever pay them.

This, he would have given us more wins for the past two years than anyone we've had since.

Can we please give on this Leinart BS! We was NOT going to help this team. Until we fix our OL, not even Jesus Christ could help us.

I'm torn, I thought we got a steal when we picked up #7. Then all that crazy stuff happened after Warner called it quits, that's when I thought we would see what he could do but it was not be. The way he and Whiz handled it sucked almost as bad as our QB play since we lost #7 and Warner.

Truth is, Hot-tub has a quality team around him, with a decent OC. Everybody likes to harp on his work ethic, his having "no" what ever in the "locker room", or his comprehension skills when it comes to a "NFL" playbook.

Smel will tell you 3 times a day when he aint elk hunting, Captain checkdown was getting it done in his own way via Whiz's offense. That blitz would come and he would fire one out quick like, which I liked because it gets the D playing tighter and tighter (less cushion as well), so you could burn that coverage later in the game.

That's where we come back to Whiz's "Let them know we are going to throw and throw deep" kind of offense. While out dated and under ballanced, it takes a lot of time to get comfortable in. It's like being the bait so you can save your friends, knowing the monsters are coming, you gotta be cool.

So I don't know if he will be under prepared, if he will toss it as soon as it's snapped with out any pressure. I think he has been waiting for this for a long time, made the right choice not going to the chickens, and (this is my biggest fear) spawn 87,000 threads on how we let him go for nothing. :D

I'm rooting for #7 I think, but I won't be upset at all if he goes shwag mode.

He'll throw a bunch of 15-20 yard passes which will either be enough to win or lose the game.

And, personally, I dont care how he does. He is off my team.

you know how I grade regardless of how I FEEL!

Jersey abunch of 15-20 yard passes would be nice! I'm a Cardinals fan and thiz Christmas the ghosts of Cardinals, past-present-future will be playing for the Texans. I don't think Bidwills made this decision, they made the decision to re-sign their first HC in AZ, with good reasons. Playoffs and SB!

Graves was rewarded a contract for hiring Whiz and to keep continuity, My God how they have screwed this thing up since, Denny's personnel moves were ecellent, FA- Draft- retention. Graves and Whiz not so much.

I am A Cardinal fan not a leinart fan. If this stupidity was in the best interest of the Cardinals, You would have only heard small peeps from me.

BUT IT AINT AND IT SUCKS!

Matt Leinart is one of the best players on a Houston playoff team, and will be treated as such. Truth is the national Media turned on Matt leinart the moment he said that HE did not care what Cris Carter said, and Cris Carter black balled leinart in the name of his protege -one- Larry Fitzgerald.

I mean the manning commercials and such were long gone for Matt. But Carter vindictively poisoned the well, Matt Leinart is the worse bust that ever happened to the Cardinals, and the luckiest windfall ever for the
Texans.

If whiz is that stupid to buy what the media is selling, just like trusting Andy Reid's Kolb evaluations for DRC and a 1st round pick- DUH! Reid is Bugs bunny, Whiz is Pete the Puma

Bugs:How many lumps of do you want?
Pete: ohhhh-threee or fouur. (WAAP< WAAP< WAAP< WAAP)

Bugs:How many lumps do you want?
Pete: I don't want any more lummps!
Bugs: thats nonsense!

Pete: I'll help myself to lumps!

even looks like Ken Whisenhunt in Cartoon Land! I want a whole lot of lumps!

Anyone see the Fox pre-game show last week? They said Leinart would be starting and cut to a clip of some guy screaming in horror. News flash: CC ain't on Fox. (CC is also tough on a TON of players.)

Leenart ain't a Cardinal no mo.

My team plays my old team tomorrow. Don't much care about some guy from the USC.

I know mentioning the 2010 preseason is risky but I mentioned it then and still think that the throws he was making most resembled what real game situations would look like. Sure, there was limited production but he was completing passes, getting the ball to his players and not turning it over, all under heavy pressure and quick timing.

I thought he really exhibited what a QB needs to be doing to be successful during the regular season but somehow, Derek Anderson standing in a clean pocket completing some downfield throws was what the coaches went with.

I'm still suspect of Leinart's timing and accuracy down the field on medium range stuff like dig routes but overall, he does seem to be perfect for what the Texans are asking from the QB position this year.

All else aside, it was never fair to ask him to run the tailor-made Warner offense. Which comes down to building around your QB's strengths or forcing a square peg into a round hole. Why Whis acclimated to Warner and flat out refused for Leinart...I guess at all since Warner is a bit baffling.

poison the well

Yea they cheered DA too the FOX big silly billy's. CC poisoned the well and you know it, I'm not gonna drag out all of the last year storylines, The media plays the Cardinals like a violin. But they don't play Kubiak, nor Reid for that matter.

I never seen CC go after somebody more aggresively, dedicating large sections of preseason shows toward it. Glazer had some good press the year before with Matt's MMA training. You know that terrible work ethic everybody keeps lying about.

How dare him take his Oline to Hawaii, or throw with Tom Brady in the offseason. Stupid Leinart needed cut just for bringing Hollywoood stars into the fold for the Matt Leinart Foundation.

Who is the biggest LA Football star- before or after Matt Leinart? HMM 4 NCAA Championship games.... Who else has done that?

I personally hope Leinart fails. The franchise with the owner included will turn a blind eye anyway to what happens to him (and why not, he failed here). The only thing Leinart will accomplish doing well is make life for a Cardinal fan a little extra hell, something I do not need.

If you're talking to me..... No I don't know it. And MMA training? All the MMA training in the world isn't going to set someone on fire if he doesn't have it in him. I said at the time he should have gone to Ft. Campbell for a week with the big boys. Not that they'd let him, lol.

Whatever. Matty should be in a great mood today seeing as how SC creamed the Bruins last night. Loathe as I am to talk about it this morning.

And who was/is the biggest LA football star? Deacon Jones. Rosey Grier. Bob Waterfield. All were bigger media sensations and stars than Matt. College? OJ Simpson. Loathe as I am to admit that.

Good Lord, I forgot Norm Van Brocklin.

If he suddenly learned how to throw the ball more then 5 yards down the field he will be fine, I wont believe it till I see it. Every team in the nfl will still stack the line of scimmage and make him beat them down the field with his lack of arm strength.

Teams were going to do that anyway with the Texans being a heavily run oriented offense. However Andre Johnson is supposed to be back this week and it will also be interesting to see what Leinart does with a real running game and a TE that can catch.
