I don’t think so. Hopkins is one of the top tier that can hold a team hostage but very few have that leverage.Does re-doing a deal which has 3 years left set a dangerous precedent? I like the guy too, just thinking out loud.
OK, but when was the last time we renogotciated a contract with 3 years left and no guranteed money?I don’t think so. Hopkins is one of the top tier that can hold a team hostage but very few have that leverage.

this is a different situation because we traded for him knowing that he was going to demand an extension. Agreeing to the trade is somewhat of an acknowledgment to Hopkins that we understand we need to get something done.OK, but when was the last time we renogotciated a contract with 3 years left and no guranteed money?
Yeah, but when was the last time we renegotiated
a deal 3 years early with no guaranteed money in the current contract?
Cards are his new team and likely agreed to redo his contract as part of the trade.OK, but when was the last time we renogotciated a contract with 3 years left and no guranteed money?

I’m pretty sure he was the last one, but then Whiz got involved and pissed off Q if I remember right. Looking back, I wish we could’ve got that deal done. He should’ve been a Card for lifeBoldin?
i hope they're able to give him a fair deal... while taking advantage of him doing it on his own sans agent.
Not when it means getting rid of David Johnson's contract to acquire a premier player in the league in his prime. It kinda balances out.Does re-doing a deal which has 3 years left set a dangerous precedent? I like the guy too, just thinking out loud.
I’ve been saying the same Jerry. Dangerous groundDoes re-doing a deal which has 3 years left set a dangerous precedent? I like the guy too, just thinking out loud.
And he was making what a $mil per year? Apples & oranges imoBoldin?
No. Contracts weren’t what they are now. Nor was the salary cap. It’s all relative. And he was making what a $mil per year? Apples & oranges imo
Its gonna handcuff us for the salary cap in the foreseeable future. I think 10 of our players are going to eat up 50% of the cap next year.
From my understanding the cap is expected to decrease by $23 mil per team next season.Hopefully some of that new deal can fill up that 7 million dollars in cap space we created this season.
