On Friday the Suns lost to the red hot Jazz. Now they face the Hornets in Phoenix on Sunday who have won their past two games.

The Suns will be without Marquese Chriss after he had a rules violation which involved a Suns coach after the game.

Make note it is an early game.

Here is more from Scott Bordow.

Hornets at Suns

When: 1 p.m.

Where: Talking Stick Resort Arena.

TV/radio: FSAZ/KTAR 98.7 FM.

Update: The Hornets are 22-29 and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, but they’ve won two straight games and point guard Kemba Walker has been on fire, scoring 38 and 41 points in the two victories. Walker, who reportedly is on the trading block, leads the team in scoring (22.8 points). Dwight Howard will pose a problem for the Suns inside; he’s averaging a double-double (15.9 points, 12.7 rebounds). The Suns will be without forward Marquese Chriss, who is being held out of the game because of a verbal altercation with the team’s strength coach after Friday’s loss to Utah.

Surprised they have a game on Super Bowl Sunday. Typically other sports avoid trying to compete with the Super Bowl. I know it's an early game but the SB is an all day event nowadays.

The same here. Even more so since the games are so close together in time.

Bender right off the bat, puts the ball on the floor and drives around Kaminisky for the first basket of the game.

Bender and jackson both look great early on. Though Jackson already has 2 fouls.

Booker looks comfortable playing PG early... as good as I have seen him at this position.

End of 1st quarter:

Suns 32 - Hornets 25

Booker is still struggling with his shooting from the field (1-5) but the Suns and Booker have played well.

It's a shame the Suns have not gone back to Bender who has only played 7 minutes.

Please sit Booker and let him heal up! I would rather see him drop 30 than dish 7 assists and 18 points.

Looks like there is a top on the basket, nothing falling for the Suns right now.

I do think playing PG has been a distraction for Booker but perhaps the Suns are thinking long term.

Booker seems to be moving better today but his shot is certainly off.

Wow. Go Josh Jackson.

He has 10 points and has been perfect from the field and FT line.

Bender goes to the bench with 3 PFs.

IMO, the Suns sat him too long.
