Horseheads' Megan Wolf and other Athlete of Week winners for winter season

Horseheads senior girls basketball player Megan Wolf was named the final Athlete of the Week for the winter sports season.

Wolf received 44.9% of the 7,651 votes in voting for the period of Feb. 23 to March 1. Maine-Endwell boys basketball player Luka Ioannisci was runner-up with 33.8% of the vote.

Wolf became the seventh player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, scoring 24 points in a 52-35 victory over Susquehanna Valley.

She followed with 21 points as Horseheads repeated as Section 4 Class AA champion with a 54-51 overtime victory over Binghamton on Sunday.

That victory earned Horseheads (16-5) a berth in a New York State Public High School Athletic Association regional final at 3 p.m. March 15 against Warwick at Kingston High School.
